From: wikipedia

Audiophiles are people who seek to listen to music at a level of quality as close to the original live performance as possible. They use high-fidelity components to try and attain these goals. Most are music lovers who are passionate about high-quality music reproduction. Some hobbyists build their own equipment, especially loudspeakers, but this is less common now

are you an audiophile?
if so, what do you prefer? headphones or speakers?
whats your setup?

ill start:

although i dislike music in any form, i love the sound of great quality audio, in games etc etc.
i prefer headphones over speakers, but i much prefer open headphones over closed(sure, the sound leaks a bit, but it just sounds alot better to me)

my current setup is:
PORTABLES:
Vsonic VS-R02
GREAT canalphones for the price, they cost $70 AUD here(about 50USD)
and they are easily as good as some of the upper model shures, which cost around $150 USD(200 aud)

Yeh I am an audiophile. Speakers are my preference by far when I'm in my room, cause you can hear "more" of the sound if you know what I mean, and it sounds deeper, and has a quality that headphones cant reach.

My setup is an 80 watt AKAI amp (its not that great..), with a set of JBL TX 2 speakers, which sound amazing. It cost my dad about $300 for each speaker back in the 80's I think, and they're still going strong. He got them from spring road in richmond, if you've ever been to melbourne? apparantly its a well known place. but yer ive got the amp connected to my comp via a 3 1/2 mill - auxillary cable so I can use foobar to play pink floyd through them.

pretty sweet

I guess..but not really. I do prefer recorded or concert and 'over-dubbed' than concert quality. But what ever, I don't have time or want to do that dubbing.
