Hi, ive searched the forums and found many refernces to UID.dat, some say that deleting it allows you to dual login and others say it stops jagex from banning you when autoing.
Im confused as to which is right please could someone shed some light on this for me .
Thanks

UID.dat (also known as Random.dat) is a small file jagex puts onto your computer to link all of the account which log into their game from your computer together.
UID = Unique Identification
So basically if they catch one of your accounts autoing, they check your UID and they can then see which other characters have logged on from your computer as well. They can then check those chars and ban them as well
It is recommended that you delete your UID.dat file every time before you start autoing. If is found at C:\Windows\.jagex_cache_32 (or something similar to that)
You cannot delete the file whilst RuneScape is running.

It only lowers the chances of them not banning your other accounts.
Thats all

Well usually we don't advise you to auto on your mains because there is always a risk of being banned.
However, if you do want to risk it:
1) Delete UID / Random .dat regulary
2) Use good scripts
3) Don't become greedy - auto only for a short period at a time
4) Switch player regularly
5) Switch scripts regularly

Hey starblaster, before you said not to auto for long periods of time and be greedy, what do you consider a long period of time, just out of interest?

well autoing for long periods of time on one character is not good.
If you had 20 different characters all setup for a script, you could easily auto for 60-100 hours straight on a good script.
It really depends on the script quality, how many characters you have and what you are autoing befire you can judge what a long amount of time is.
Sorry, i can't give you a number. I can't say auto for 3 hours then stop. However, I can recommend things like auto less whilst flax picking, auto longer whilst picking mushrooms etc. (They were just examples)
Its common sense and your own judgment really.
