SRL Archive - Outdated Tutorials

As you may or may not know, the new SRL forums update makes it so you don't have access to all of the free scripts unless you have a 10 posts, and have been registered at the SRL forums for 1 week. I'm here to help others to find ways to achieve these requirements, instead of quiting.

Why has this been done? We've all done it: tried out a script and not posted any feedback. This tutorial isn't to allow you to leech again in the future, it's to get you to become in active member.

Here are some example of how you can increase your post count without spamming the forums:

• Know a neat trick? Or maybe you know some scripting elements others have trouble with? Make a tutorial! You can help others and they will respect you.
• Maybe you remember when you were noob and you need help, go to the help section and try to give a helping hand.
• Maybe you're on the other end of that stick. Ask questions; you'll learn things. Why wait for someone to make a tutorial on the topic? The sooner you ask the faster you learn.
• NOTE: Be warned don't post spam! You will be perm banned if you receive three infractions, guaranteed. Remember to make your posts useful.

Now once your a junior member, don't start leeching again! Take these steps to become a well respected member.

• NEVER test a script and not reply. If it won't run tell them. If it stopped halfway through, tell them. If it work for 3 months, tell them. And don't forget to post progress reports.
• Continue to make tutorials. Remember "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for the day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll eat for life.
• If you know the answer to a problem no matter how nooby it may sound, answer it. Don't flame anyone: you'll just make one more person dislike you. The more people who like you the better chances of being a member.
• Post your scripts. Even if you make a script that make 180 gp a day, it might be what someone needed. People can then give you feedback and you can become a better scripter

I have all the requirements, but i still cannot see all of the boards: Help!?

• Profiles are updated only a few times a day, so as soon as you have the required post count and login time, wait a few hours and the boards should open up to you.
• If it still doesn't happen after a few hours, maybe you have your calculations wrong? Maybe you have only been registered 6 days, or one of your posts have been deleted by our staff. Even so, remember not to spam!

Take these steps to become a Junior member, and a better person.

Perhaps it was a simple mistype? Maybe the mods want to look in to that.

mmm Not all of them are pure spam. I do not post things that only say good job.
I did make a few spam posts but most of mine were to answer someones question.

Well perhaps we should be able to post our scripts, seeing as there barely any other way to show that we're acceptable to be part of the community.

^ Agreed. There is not really any other way than semi spamming and posting tutorials… Making the first script section available for all members would reduce spam by a bit.

I did a little experiment..with all of your SPAM Posts removed, tell me what you see now ? maybe your posts from here on out will be a bit more helpful, and not for the sole purpose of leeching scripts…

You reseting post counts is a little EXTREME don't you think, and I would write a script but I cant cause we aren't allowed!!!!!!!!!!:f: :mad:

A simple "Pre-Junior Member Scripts" forum would allow us to make ourselves seem acceptable.

I do agree however that we should at least be able to look at first script sections, cause as of now I can no longer look at the thread where I posted my first script.

I have the 1 week, the 10 posts, i post proggys, am working on some scripts of my own, so why am I not a junior member?

I have been using SCAR and SRL for a few weeks now. How can I post proggies and tips on scripts if I can't access script posts to do so? Am I only allowed to post on "First Scripts" section? I'm not trying to be irritating, I'm sure that there are a lot of questions flying right now, I just need some direction about how to "be" more active. ( I read the stuff suggested at the top of this thread btw.)

Good tut, and I still even think it should have been kept at two weeks/25 posts. Sure, I only have been a member for 5 days, but it should be longer before you have access to all the scripts.

I think this whole thing is a good idea.

But, most of the time, i'm just reading. I dont think i help people with my posts. Anyway i'll try to join discussions. But it's very hard for me to post because my english is very bad.

i think posting can be either helping someone or asking for help, which means you are willing to learn and thus are not a leecher, dont ask what you can easily find *cough*search*cough*

Don't forget to include that if you are able to see the SRL Junior Member scripts section but still have the title of registered user, you can:

(Make sure you have the required 7 days and 10 posts first before trying.)

1.) Go to your User Control Panel:

2.) Click the 'Edit Profile' link:

3.) Once there click on the 'Group Memberships' link in the bottom left corner:

4.) Select the 'SRL Junior Members' and update the display group:

5.) Your title should no longer say "Registered User," and your username will now be a more yellow green when posting on the forums.

I know, I know. I went a little overboard with the pictures but I was bored. Feel free to quote this message in the main post, copy and paste it in there or just leave it here.

Now back to autoing…

Could you possibly expand the Tutorial Section, so that there is more organization, easier to see what kind of Tutorials are needed, etc.

Yes, thank you. It's hard to find a forum where a minimum post count rule actually helps, but I think it will work well here. It might even be a good idea to allow all registered users to see the junior member scripts, but not to post or download anything. Just to give us noobs a taste of things to come. :) :stirthepot:

Very nice tutorial; I knew most of it (Behaviour and such) already, but there's some info that I had never seen before, because I haven't ever been so active here.

I bet some people learned a lot… But I still bet a lot more people could read this and free us from some of their spam, which is commonly thrown in the wrong section…

The worst for me of not being Junior member, is that I can't help as many as I would like to… On Freddy1990 I help ALL I can… But I want to help more, so I, for once, check out SRL in-depth.

A refferal is when someone signs up for something and says that You sent them… when that happens you get a refferal

It is a very unique idea, it's new, glad to see something so useful utilized.

Nice Tut, i suppose it will help the VERY new ones, but many of the people at SRL were "junior members" from the start, or awhile back. (meaning they already have met the requirements.

On the main page of SRL click 'SRL Stats' on the left of the screen. Register, then log in and click 'My Account' on the left of the screen. At the bottom there will be a link that you can put in your sig to show your stats.


Just wondering, I've been Jr. Member for I think about three weeks now (I mean I can see the extra forums and everything), but under my name it says 'Registered User'. Very minor issue, just wondering :p

thats an easy requirement luckly. in otakuanime.info you have to member for 2 months and then post to earn download tickets. very harsh indeed but i do apreciate it, i mean many noobs will atempt to learn scar in the mean while. ive been on scar way before the ban of the 20k people. i quit it since kaitnieks went down and sythes isn't to much into scar. now that i found srl i am amazed of what has become of scar. keep it up!

This is good to prevent leechers, BUT the down side is it causes spammers.

Theres always a downside to everything, like with any updates jagex releases, we will find a way around them. Theres always somebody out there looking to cheat and you cant stop them because their determined..

Don't leave because you can't get good scripts. Learn how to script and apply to be an SRL-Member. If you get accepted, then you can get access to even more better scripts!

Great job, The SRL-Forums deserve to have "real" members who participate because of all they have done to help cheating at Runescape.

Thanks, I kept getting messages saying I couldn't view the tested scripts & it was driving me insane. Then I read:

"Free for All Scripts (6 Viewing)
Dont want to wait a week? Want to stay a leecher? dont want to contribute? Here are some fine Free Scripts…"

& that gave me a clue to the requirements, then I searched "fish" (cuzz I've been trying to get a catherby fisher..so far still unsucessful) & in this message you say "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, teach a mean to fish, he'll eat for life" or something like that, so this came up in the results.

Ill try to be as active as possible =] i dont really auto often but im going to make a skiller and see how far i can get with it from autoing. Also sorry if anyone notices that i might mispell somethings in some of my posts, i type rather fast so i sometimes click the keys besides the key im actually trying to hit.

Ahh I was wondering why I couldn't view everything.

I was reading this RAM and it is very helpful. I think that if more people would just take the time to read and understand what is right and wrong, the forums would be a much better place. I don't see what is so hard about being active on a forum without spamming threads with useless comments like: "nice script" or "how do I dl SRL". Take the time to read the forums, and sometimes just don't make a post.

What I think you will learn very quickly is that this community is about learning to make your own scripts while using other people's scripts for the purpose of providing feedback, stats, general info etc for them.

In summary, an anti-leeching community. Which, if you think long and hard about it ;) , is exactly what is required when dealing with the subject nature of this sort. Ever tried a private torrent tracker? Try leeching there…and you'd probably get about as far as you would by being a leech here

The whole purpose of this thread is to make it clear to all new-comers that you need to have 10 meaningful posts before you can become a junior member. Plus its a minimum 7 day wait as well…

This was usefull as i didnt know how to do this but i did get teird of reading about ppl complaining about not being able to do their scripts you should wait and work yourself up in the ranks to post your scripts this is a good thing or the whole forum would be covered in junk scripts TY

you needed over 1k to get a sig and be able to post pics and i dont know how many for editing your own posts

Admins won't miss you, you have to be patient.

a) If you spam, your post count can be resetted.
b) If you whine a lot about it etc, why would anyone want to upgrade you?
c) If your spam too much, ask constantly why not, why this etc, your date will most-likely be exceeded or I think it is possible you will be left as Registered User.

After all the scripts, help and other service is free, you cannot complain about it since you havent paid a penny for it.

[H]Also, if your account is week old, and you have 10 posts and you are still not an SRL Junior Member, I think the required post count was resetted to 25.[/H]

If you still feel like you should be an SRL Junior Member, you just have to be patient. There is over 30 000 users registered to SRL, thats not something you sort through in few minutes though all of them aren't active.

im realy happy this forum has this system of ranking and not being abel to leech free scripts, though there are ppl like myself who are genuin and are willing to be part of the comunity, there are also a large population of young rs2 players that just want free and easy to obtain scripts. waiting a week and making 10 posts is a small price to pay to show that u are infact genuin, so scripts and what-not cant just be leeched and used without rating or comment.

EDIT: I've got the same problem as Muchroomhead4lyfe. I can access the junior scripts but I'm still the dark green color instead of the light green color of a junior member.

i have recently been trying out some scirpts and they all work well the one i have mostly been trying is narcles fast fighter however it always logs out after 20-30 mins

oh and when it logs out its not just because of the logout timer ive changed that, it actually logs out which is annoying because it dosent log back in and it always says error found even if its perfect

This is a good thread, also i have been a member since 2006 and it stills says im a "Registred member" instead of a "SRL Junior Member" but i can check the Junior Member section(s) anyway, i bet there is more members that has the same "problem" as me, so keep that in mind.. even if it says you are a "Registred Member" you might still be able to see sections like the "SRL Junior Member" can, so its like.. your status under your name isnt changed but your still a Srl junior member.

SRL Scriptwriting is not about writing them for $ or for recognition or to prove youself to others, but for your own intellectual advancement.

Yeah the thing is when are you really becomming a junior member because I looked some stats of players who are active over quite some years and they are still a registered user. So what to do to really become a junior member, i guess 7 days waiting and 10 posts aren't enough, or i'm maby wrong :S. Please give me a good explanation cause i'm confused at the moment.

Profiles are updated only a few times a day, so as soon as you have the required post count and login time, wait a few hours and the boards should open up to you.

You just have to be registered for a week, if you had to be on the board for 1 week in total then i would only just be junior member…

Ok, this was useful, but if you could define a more exact definition of spam, it could prevent it more in the future, even if we all know the general idea.

Spam: A post that has no meaning, for example saying "lol" of just posting on a script thread saying "1337 5CR1P7 M4N".

Useful Post: A post that helps someone else, or you are asking a question to find out about stuff.

So i'm kind of new to srl-forums, so when i get 10 new posts i will get a junior membership. What can i do then??

You then get access to scripts that have banking and work pretty flawlessly.

And if your skills get good enough, then you can apply for SRL Members status. Theres plenty of tuts explaining how to make a SRL Member worthy script.

Its because you automatically get access to the scripts, but an admin has to mnually change your rank. And they only do this every 1 or 2 months, it would get anoying to do it every day.

too bad. i only have internet at my dads. i stay for about a week at a time. but i only come every 2 weeks. plus i have court on the 18th and might go to juvee :(

I have noticed people splitting posts and it can be an annoying waste of space, SRL forums should make 2 posts posted by the same guy come together with day=times and times attached but only if none posted between those posts, that way there would be no split posts. i think it is very annoying.

Yes you have not registered yet for one week with Srl Forums you join on the " 3rd July 2008" meaning you will be an active SRL Junior Member on the "9th July 2008" it will take a few hour's for you to become an active "Srl Junior Member" due to the admits being busy!. Also make sure most of you're posts are not Spam or just a few words as a post eg. "good job" stuff like that is classed as spam!.

So just wait another 2 more days! (:

I thought you had to pay to become a junior member.
On most forums post count doestn't give you privelages, but if you think about it it's the only way to prevent a community made of 50% leechers.
