I just recently borrowed my father's laptop, and was very surprised what was going on with it. I was getting a ton of pop-ups, so I downloaded this really cool program for virus scanning/deleting. I have now picked up Trojans: 15 and Adware: 6. I have been scanning since last night throughout all of the day, and have scanned over 150,000 files as of now. Anybody else had this happen?

Avast is indeed one of the better programs. I won't say its the best because there may be better that I haven't seen.
Just a word of info on system restores. Almost every virus infects system restore first, so that when you restore the virus is still there. So system restore does nothing.
First you must turn system restore off and delete all of its files to get the virus out. (avast does this for you when it detects a virus)

I use McAfee and never have any problems with my comp. When dowloading A file you arne't sure about (including .class files of scripts, and Peer-2-peer shareware) just scan it with jotti virus scanner (jotti.org).

funny, I don't have viruses… I probably should considering I have outdated antivirus lol.
Guess my internet's so slow that viruses can't get in in the first place lol -.-
Either that or something to do with my wireless router having an inbuilt firewall? lol
