Ok, I'm pretty new here, but this whole KYAB vs SRL thing is really annoying. I don't understand it. All I've seen is either badmouthing or putting other people down, with snippets of mature discussion. I'm REALLY sorry if I'm extremely ignorant of the situation, because I haven't been around for it all, but this division really takes away a lot of the things I love about this community. Who knows, maybe that just comes with growth, but it seems like a lot of unnecessary drama.

Basically I feel helpless, because sometimes I feel like this great community isn't what it can be or has been in the past. I'm not saying it isn't great anymore :p i just really think people need to stop holding grudges and help each other out. It's hard, but I think we'll be a lot happier if we're nice and supportive.

Also, I know personally I was more than a little disappointed at becoming an SRL member, because it wasn't as great as I thought (don't think I'm ungrateful like a lot of leechers out there, I still love it here;)), and I think as the members increase, people get less happy because this "special" status means less as numbers grow. However Boreas had mentioned an SSRL status, because the gap between SRL member and Dev is so big. Can anyone talk about this? I know it's made me start scripting again, because I'm the kind of person who needs a goal, and even if I don't become a Dev or whatever, I still have reason to pursue more knowledge and it's made scripting fun again.

Just my 2 cents, PLEASE don't flame me, I know I haven't been around very long, so I'm sorry if you feel like I'm being too assertive with my opinions. I just wrote this off the top of my head, and I'll probably end up editing it. But I do want to hear what you guys think because seeing as we just lost an active member due to this, I think it's something that should be discussed.

Not much going on except that KYAB has been rejected by the SRL-community as it renders SRL useless, is controlled by a few and is java-based and vulnarable to scam because it is controlled by, well, let me put it this way, some of the "not-so-trusted" members or ex-members of this community. We are not involved in any kind of "war" or whatever, KYAB simply needs to earn its place in the cheating-community, some people are attracted to it which is afaik not a problem at all, things like that happen all the time and will always cause some drama.

I will stress this once again, in order to survive, we will need to be one big happy familiy. We need to work together or leave each other in peace!

I'm glad you said that, and thanks for explaining the KYAB thing :)

And I suppose you're right, there will always be some drama in varying degrees.

i quite like KYAB… but i've seen that this forum doesn't like it much, and KYAB forums don't like SRL much.

I keep quite about KYAB whilst i am here and quiet about SRL when i am there.

It's a win win situation :D

there has always, and probably will always be, animosity between the(usually 2) main runescape cheating sites.
there has NEVER been a time when ALL of the communities got along.
at first it was nicks bot vs rays bot(both VB)
then autorune, which, IIRC, some people disliked intensely for no other reason then that it worked so well.
then scar vs java bots(which has continued for about 4 years now)

ive never heard of it before.

KYAB is a java bot to be used with scar, it gets information from the client such as tile position and current animation. It does not modify the client in any ways.

No war in my mind. I'm a happy member of both places and perfectly content to use both SRL and KYAB in conjunction. I see it as another tool. KYAB is turning into another java bot and i'm perfectly happy with that. I'm also happy that SRL doesn't go that far and is content to stay out of the java side of things.

Regardless there's no reason to fight about it. We all do our own things. Both are fun places to be

unfortunately as the majority of scripters are between 12-16 there will always be immature squabbles.
this forum is the only one i have ever seen with almost no squabbles.

Anyway I remember reading from somewhere that KYAB was supposed to be a supplement to SRL. They were supposed to help each other out. Its all because of the grudges between the leaders of each project (IMO) that causes this fuss…

Wow, I just learned thanks to ruler's little rant on the SCAR minimized thread (that is now closed) that it looks like SRL has survived worse drama in the past, I'm sure these little disputes will pass in time.

There's been less hating from solar lately, I don't know if you can say he hates SRL in general, but he and Star definitely don't get along…

Many people want that, but it's not happening. Also SRL as a whole doesn't hate him just a few select people that represent SRL.

i have no problems with it, in fact, i just went over to their site, signed up, and applied for membership :)
