Hello, I'm a torrent noob. I don't know much about them other than that I get about .4 kb per second :D

Anyway, is it possible for a torrent to be a virus or something like that? Can I scan it before hand?

I am downloading two games and I want to know if they are viruses or anything. I checked the comments and it said nothing about anybody playing them or having viruses or anything like that.

One of the games was just a ton of different same sized zip files. The other one has .exe's and stuff.

If I were you, I would look for comments at the download page to see if people said it has a virus.

I usually just take a chance. Try to download torrents with lots of seeders, then you will get a faster download.

Torrents are great, just "scary" some of the time because they can be infected. GL!

Well I've already broken out Backyard Baseball :D..Hey, gimme a break. I'm first generation of those games. When I was 5 they came out. I was trying to get Backyard Hockey 2005 and Basketball 2007

Then they're probably safe, if someone finds a virus, they usually warn others about it.

One of the games was just a ton of different same sized zip files. The other one has .exe's and stuff.

All the zips are just one archive broken into multiple parts.

Hockey is going ~35kbps

They are big files too, so it's going to take a good while. 504mb for Hockey and 262mb for basketball.

You can scan them after opening if they're in .rar or zip without any risk of getting infected

unpack 1 of the rar files then get daemon tools or some other mounter and it should work…or u can burn i think

This makes perfect sense if you know what you're doing ;)

You extract the rar files. looks like they're all the same… so try doing 1 first (you'll probably only need 1)

then, you use Daemon tools, or alcohol 120% or another mounting program, and mount the bin/cue file to a virtual drive, then run from the drive and install. I find it easier not using a CD, but that's up to you…

this may help with downloading torrents..

go to google and search shareeaze or utorrent ( or what ever you use to download torrents)

and go to http://www.torrentz.com/ its a torrent search engine u can find preety much everything..you just gotta search for what u want and it will bring it up!

I just started torrents too. I think they are worth the risk as people will comment if the file is a virus. I can't stand the .04kb/second thing though

my torrents download heaps quick. my download speed averages about 0.5kb/s to about 50kb/s.. and apperently for torrents thats preety good.

I use torrents all the time. I use isohunt mostly. but i always look for HIGH seeders!! that's my most important thing. if it has over 30 seeds, its usually clean. (just a heads up). If it has under 30, then it will/could take a while. it doesn't always, but it could. AND you should ALWAYS scan everything you download for viruses. even if other people say there is none, you can't be sure till you try it yourself. Be safe, scan it!

Also if you can try sign up to a private tracker….. i downloaded c&c3 at 543kb's. But most people dont have private trackers.

More seeds less leachers = faster downloads.
Always read comments and scan all files.
i have a tut on how to mount so if you need just ask

i recommend taking a look at portforward.com to open all your ports. Will give you better download speeds.

head for thepiratebay.org, most reliable site i have found, 100's of dlds, zero viruses thus far.

PirateBay is the best site I've found for torrents also. I've downloaded tons of music, movies, and a couple of games with no problems.

Yea pirate bay is where i get my majority, then i check isohunt and mininova.

If you want to search for torrent files from pretty much everywhere on the internet, check out: www.torrentz.com

I go here to get everything that I need and to find the best seeds! GL and be careful about what you do. If you have anonymity software, use it. Hide your IP to better protect you. If you don't have that type of software…get it off torrentz :D

EDIT: Apparently the site is having some issues right now, so just give it a day or two.

azureus is great for torrents havent had a problem. But be careful 1 out of every 3 is usually a virus so make sure ur virus scanner is :p upto date

Lol, project aborted, I tried using an emulator and made an .iso and I just got stuck, so w/e..it's fine.

If you make your searches at a good site, the torrents are all scanned by a virus scanner before they are uploaded.

demonoid is way better than pirate bay just it doesnt have adult content and its extremely hard to find an open registration day but theres a scam going around you can buy an invititian code on the net for like 3 us dollars and sign up it will get banned but they send you a legitamite invite seeing your so desperate to join the site …i didnt do that by the way but yeah demonoid rapes pirate bay

i would say check the comments and the reason it's not quick downloading because not many seeders and u can't check be4 the download has finished but i would say scan it as soon as it finishes.

OK, I've downloaded a game. Now it's also come with a crack. Is there a way I can uninstall Daemon Tools and still use the crack? =\

I had to load an iso file. So I mounted it using Daemon Tools, only problem, the crack on it, I have to have it mounted to use it.

u cant just extract it?

Mount the .cue from Alcohol120% or use like MagicISO, or another virtual drive mounter. Thats how u get stuff done. W00T FOR TORRENTS! DEMONOID FTW!

they are pretty slow for me aswell, you need alot of seeds.

If a file has viruses people will say on the comment section of the website you get it from.

Try TO search for these 2 games at this site: www.isohunt.com its vrus safe just look for the highest seeding torrent
