CAN AN ADMIN PLZ MAKE THE POLL CLOSE THING TO LIKE 1 YEAR MORE OR SO?


Umh so ive been wondering as long as i can remember that i always have had this question in my head. Is more people left handed then right handed? Please help me with this question ive put in a poll in this thread and please use it.

I write with my right and kick a ball with my right leg but I kick in Taekwondo better with my left leg. Type with both :p though….

Both for me. Why isn't there an ambidextrous option in this poll? I find it very offensive(Lmao, not)! Same with feet, which makes me = Pwn @ soccer

Right handed, but anything that requires sighting (ie: shooting), I use my left hand for because my left eye's sight is far superior to my right (cataract)

I was born left handed, then I broke my arm at about age 10, then switched to right hand for writing, and continued using it to write, until about 8 years ago, I had another serious accident and severely severed my right hand…at that time I went back to writing with my left…I have since recovered and went back to writing primarily with my right hand, but I have always Skate/Surf/Snowboard goofy foot…I have always shot a bow and arrow/ gun equally well from either side (good with pistols in both hands at same time ;) ), able to throw a ball with both hands, and people always comment when I eat, because I switch my utensils from one hand to the other, depending on which side of my plate I am eating from…so, are we "Freaks of Nature", or "Products of our Environment" ?

Interesting question for me actually.

Things I do with my right hand:

• Write
• Scissors
• Utensils
• My Right foot is better than my left, so I play soccer with my right foot.

Things I do with my left hand:

• Baseball
• Basketball <– Finesse but takes power I guess
• Golf
• Throw Things
• Tennis (Although I can do this with both, I'm better with my left hand. I don't play this a lot though.)

I consider myself a lefty..but I don't know. I write with my right hand, so I don't know. I cannot write well with my left hand. I can't swing a baseball bat/golf club/throw anything with my right hand *very well :)*

The predisposition to either side results from slightly higher development in the opposite side of the brain. Since feet and hands are controlled in slightly different parts of the brain, you can be opposite handed-footed.

You can also train your body over time to change these priorities. (Or be equally capable with both hands)

Yanix, to help you out i know the approximate percentage of the people in the world that are left handed. It was either 3% or 10-11%. We talked about this the other day in school lol.

If I remember school correctly (and years of pot useage makes me think I don't) approxamatly 10% of the worlds population is left handed. However, it is impossible to know the true number. Many left handed people were trained from birth to be right handed and as such don't have the muscle memory required in their left hand.

Personally, I'm left handed. I'm also left eye dominant. However, I kick with my right foot. Though I believe the foot thing is because of an injury I had as a child.

A couple of studies have shown that lefties are generally more ambidextrous than righties. I'm a lefty, but I can use either hand for most things. I can write with my right hand, but my handwriting is already bad with my left, so I'm sure my right-handed script is illegible to most people. My right foot is dominant for things like football, but I can manage with my left.

My friend is ambidextrous and he uses that to annoy the heck out of people! For instance, whichever side his brother is sitting on, he uses that hand. :rolleyes:

haha a CS player lol long time i played that and that i checked this thread… but for about 1 month ago i slammed my hand in a door when i was gona close it and i ripped of my skin on my finger so i coundt play CS or anything else… had to watch TV for like 2 weeks now its like 80% fixd :D great that ppl even care about this :D and im sure that most of u guys/girls that are in there teens do some ''other'' stuff with there hand(s) ;) i know ur secret…

89 percent of people are right handed, and 9 with around two percent actually being ambidextorous, also the a greater perecentage of men than women are left handed,

left handed people also have a slightly smaller life expectancy, this is not saying that if your left handed your goiing to die earlier (correlation is not causation) but since the world is designed for right handed people, for example machinery, it is safer for them, this does not mean if your left handed your going to die earlier though, its nothing to be scared of but in the population as a whole right handed people live a little longer

Wow, I'm actually surprised at the number of left handed people. I'm basically all righty, and if you really wanna get into detail I always open caps of bottles with my left hand, for whatever reason using my right hand doesn't feel right. :rolleyes:

I know how to use right and left handed but i much more prefer the right hand. Also left footed and right footed, i was originally right footed but i learnt how to use the left foot as-well (Soccer Practice) and now both foot's are the same.

Left Handed ppl tend to be more intellectual. Being left handed can also mean that your right side of your brain is stronger.

im a lefty and i am 1 of 20 people at my high school that are leftys and there are 786 people at my school

I'm left handed but this got me thinking on this scenario:

A man or woman, is born right handed. They grew up their whole life using their right hand. As they were a full grown adult, an accident happened, something that caused them to not be able to use their right hand. Do you think they could re-learn their signature with a new hand, since it is probably specialized with their former dominant hand?

My mom told me when I was younger I was left handed. But she didn't like that so she forced me to use my right hand to write. I can't write at all with my left hand now, but my left is stronger then normal (maybe stronger then my right). I can accomplish random tasks better with my left then my right. So I would consider myself both. Unless you mean which hand I write better in…(my right)
