Scripts?

Is it even possible to make scripts with SRL down? I tried to learn to script, but right as I first started looking it up SRL went down. So if it isn't possible to make scripts now, why are people still requesting them? And they won't even need them now.

Just a word of thought.

Of course it is still possible to make scripts. Its just that we cannot test them and some tweaks may be needed to make when SRL gets updated.

A long long time ago was no Srl, and people made Scar scripts just fine… Also people have manually fixed there Srl so they can macro, to an extent. This is a time to learn maybe taking a request and working on it… It might not work but you will gain valuable experience :D

I trust that you can create scripts then? Would it be wise of me to start creating some of my own now? Or should I wait and try and look up more about scripting?

Find a skill that you would like working on… Then read some Tuts and learn how to works scar and script in it… Ask questions, Tons of them…

I would start now to get some basics down then when you have the basic body of the script build on it… E.x. Build foundation of a building then the building itself.

Everyone will need to update their scripts when the new Srl comes out so why not start early and learn to update a script :D All of this will make you a better scripter :D

if you're really interested, I'd say go for it and try to learn to script. I really enjoy making scripts (not only RS scripts) and pushing myself to be creative and think up of new ways. SCAR is probably one of the easiest programming languages to learn because there aren't a billion different commands - it's possible to know everything.

As for your question, it is possible to make scripts w/ SRL down. Alot of the commands don't use SRL, and some of them that do (like findcolor) don't really need to be updated. Stuff like variables, the wait command, writeln, functions, procedures, and some of the basic stuff don't need SRL.

Anyways, I heard from an SRL Dev that the new SRL has been updated for the past few days - they're just working out the kinks and testing it.

Thanks, I think I will look into scripting now.

On a scale of 1-10, how hard did you find learning to script?

And on a scale of 1-10, how hard is scripting now?
