I've been thinking, now that SRL needs updating… That maybe i should make my own website to sell RS millions on, but first I would like your advice.
Questions
1. Is it legal?
2. Is paypal hard to put on a website and cheap? (you know, to sell the money!)
3. Do Jagex shut down the Servers? (hosting or whatever i don't know)
4. Is it worth it?
5. Can i get into real trouble for it?
6. Are you against it (srl) Because if you are, i won't do it!
7. And finally, can they track your credit card or something and get you arrested or something wild like that ROFL
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying my best to become a good person in this community!
:D
In advance,
Thanks!
Oh yeah, and if this all works out…I will be making my own website and if you want to do it too then lets work together, make life easier… And most importantly, enjoy ourselves!

1. Is it legal?
No, it's against the ToS
2. Is paypal hard to put on a website and cheap? (you know, to sell the money!)
It's (almost) free, but paypal doesnt like people selling pixel money, they limit accs getting caught
3. Do Jagex shut down the Servers? (hosting or whatever i don't know)
If they really want to they can, but never heard of anyone that got caught
4. Is it worth it?
Depending on the no of mills you sell and the price of the mills, it might be a bit profitable
5. Can i get into real trouble for it?
Yes, but never heard of anyone getting in real trouble
6. Are you against it (srl) Because if you are, i won't do it!
Most mill sites use lv3's, we hate lv3's, but if you auto correctly, I don't think most people here would care
7. And finally, can they track your credit card or something and get you arrested or something wild like that ROFL

dont we all h8 lvl 3's lol im chopping next to one atm im lvl 65 lol i reported tho every1 his name is mylove302 lol i hope he gets banned
It isn't illegal, but not supported around here either.. Also, paypal = scam when selling/buying rsgp.. In my opinion it's not worth it and yes, jagex can take down your site if you sell rsgp as far as I know.

Crap.. .. I wouldn't use lvl 3 chars. But I didnt know i could get into real trouble for it..
Edit: Oh I can't get into trouble for it!
Edit..Again..: So, how is paypal a scam may I ask?
You're planning to sell rsgp or something and you don't know? Quite obviously people pay you, get their gp and then take their money back by refunding or something.. That's why most people don't like paypal.

Oh, I said im only learning… This may well take months to work out but I would like some spare cash to get me into uni or something when in a few years. Anyway, customers can automatically just get a refund? -.- thats unbelievably stupid!
Indeed, that's why many people prefer e-gold or some other similar sites.

if you do a website that sell money remember to give SRL members the gold much cheaper :D

I doubt srl memebrs buy gold…
That funds what we despise. Plus we can just macro the gold.
Everyone is a winner.

So true sp0rk! Like the idea though Skalla!
Anyway, GoF can you inform me more about e-gold…Because i think many people use paypal because it doesn't cost money to run, it just takes a small amount of the profit and thats that. Maybe im wrong would you care to tell me more?

We don't sell gold here because it is real world illegal.
When you agree to Jagsex's Terms or Service, you agree to recognize that your character, and all in game items still belong to Jagsex (They love there pixels!).
So, they could have srl-forums.com taken down if we traded RS <-> Real world here.
PS. I'm pretty sure RS<->RL is considered stealing by lawyers.

Anyway, keep the posts in! :D

1. Is it legal?
Against Jagex rules, but I don't believe it's illegal.
2. Is paypal hard to put on a website and cheap? (you know, to sell the money!)
Wouldn't know.
3. Do Jagex shut down the Servers? (hosting or whatever i don't know)
I bet they could, if they wanted to, but it probably wouldn't be worth it unless the site is responsible for a lot of the Real World Item Trading going on.
Just be safe and host your own server.
4. Is it worth it?
Depends on how much time you wish to invest in it.
5. Can i get into real trouble for it?
Highly doubt it.
6. Are you against it (srl) Because if you are, i won't do it!
Probably not, unless you use Level 3s/RSDemon to go about getting the money.
7. And finally, can they track your credit card or something and get you arrested or something wild like that ROFL

What do you mean by hosting your own server, don't you have to pay a hosting website to get your server? If so, how do you host your own?
Sp0rky
2007-08-09 17:08:56
If you do host your own server your computer/internet connection must be up 24/7 and would cause alot of traffic on your line.
Would probably be very slow for the person loading the site.

Yes, I believe it is illegal. As you are giving someone THERE property.
I think I've seen some proof somewhere that selling mils is not illegal.. And not like they'd sue you for selling mills in their game.. The worst they can do is ip. ban you.
darky
2007-08-09 17:59:08
ROFL ip ban me i'd just use a proxy rofl! Or am i getting the wrong idea!:p
Never seen a proxy that would work for RS .. Or prob. to the mainsite but not the game itself.

All you're doing when you buy a server is paying for someone else's server time. You could easily make your own server, but as Sp0rke and R0b0t said, it'd be quite slow.
A few links:
http://www.apache.org/http://philip.greenspun.com/panda/serverhttp://www.dslwebserver.com/I actually have my own server. It's just… Very slow, and only online when my laptop is.
http://Jason2gs.co.nr(Yes, I do own the server. No, it's not a sub-server. Conr is just a site that gives you free sub-domain names/redirects. Saves people from having to type in the IP address :))
And if it is illegal to sell pixels, just say that you're selling the time it took you to get them.
Yeah, I've heard the same complaints as what GOF said, seeing that it isn't physical goods you are selling and the pixels don't actually belong to you, it's easy for people to submit a claim with paypal and get their money back….
On another note, Jagfex knows who the major gold sellers are in the game, but unfortunately, the way they have been combating it lately, is by banning the people that buy the gold and not the people selling it….The sellers are WAYYYY aware of this, and is the reason they have their disclaimers on their sites….

Alright, maybe I worded it wrong…
Instead of saying you're selling Jagex pixels, tell them that you're doing a job for the buyer to gather the GP, and in return you're charging some money.

They can't "IP" ban you if you have a dynamic IP address, they must subnet ban you.
Like, if you have ONE computer on the IP address 1.15.133.7, that one computer would have the subnet mask 255.255.255.0 . (255.255.255.1 and so on)
Don't believe me? Go to MS-DOS and type ipconfig.

Questions
1. Is it legal? NO- Not at all. Real world item trading is a direct violation 12. Its pretty hard for J@gexx to catch u though, but they DO claim to have very good detecting programs for any strange trades (etc. a lvl 96 trading a 3 and the lvl 3 trading 10m). They can only ban you for reasonable suspicion)
2. Is paypal hard to put on a website and cheap? (you know, to sell the money!) Paypal is just an easy way to sell/buy things without entering all your information, since your paypal account holds that information. You can also accept a direct credit card payment/e-check.
3. Do Jagex shut down the Servers? (hosting or whatever i don't know)
4. Is it worth it? Yes. If you can auto about 1m a day and you can sell it for about 13$ a mill (yes, ppl who dont know about sites that use chinese sweatshops and sell mils for about 3.50 ea will buy it for at least 8 dollars, especially noobs. I have sold many mills for 15$ ea, personally.
5. Can i get into real trouble for it? Yes, if Jagex DOES catch you as i mentioned before, they claimed to have a system that detects suspicous behavior. I recommend using a lvl 3/4 noob, so that if you do get in trouble, it wont really matter. People have also reported being banned on their mains because they claim you transfered money to a lvl 3, which was later traded to someone else.
6. Are you against it (srl) Because if you are, i won't do it! Idk srls stand. Sry.
7. And finally, can they track your credit card or something and get you arrested or something wild like that ROFL. - I dont think so because Jagex would have to go through a whole lotta trouble….
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying my best to become a good person in this community!
Hope i helped :D

….. I think you need to read up the difference between ips on your home network and then the ips out in the world. And no that ip wouldnt have the subnet of 255.255.255.0 rofl. WEll not straight away anyways. You would need to subnet it. But im gathering from a home network you would have no reason to. Unless you wanted someone else in your house to be on a diff network. generally 255.255.255.0 home networks are 192.168.1.(host bit here) omfg i hackzored you :p
ANYWAYS back on topic. Yes start your own site. No dont advertise it here. Yes jagex can shut down your site. No they cant be bothered if you are selling a couple of mills. Yes it is worth it if you RESELL. Yes/No SRL generally doenst care what site you make in your own time. WE dont restrict peoples lives.
