Almost 100 new members here in less than 24 hours.

Im posting this here as there is no general forum for members only.Since I posted this 3 days ago on the 8th we now have 361 new users so that is more than 100 a day still on average. We have gotten almost 100 new members in the last 24 hours. We have went from a little over 26,000 members to 27,083 in a little over a week.
As of 6:28 eastern standard time U.S. we have 27,083 so I am gonna check this thread in about a week and see where we stand at to get an estimate on how many new people are coming in.
Out of all those 6,400 are active so 1 in 4 people are actually are active. Im sure alot of people are finding us due to people spreading the word about srl to other people and I find it amazing that such a large amount of the runescape population is using scar now.
I feel that this is a big factor in why jagex is coming after srl now and doing these quite annoying things to mess up our macros. I just feel alot of the leechers should be pruned straight from the forums because there really is no telling how many are actually using scripts out of those 21,000 inactive users. Also you have to take into account all the other cheating communites that us srl in their scripts and you get an idea how many people are actually using srl. Now its easy to see why we are becoming a every week update target. If we got rid of a large mass of leechers that are inactive that are using srl scripts to cheat then we might be able to direct some attention away from us.
I do not think jagex sees the individual srl and scar user as a threat like it does the bots but a combined mass of users using these scripts every night adds up to quite a large amount of rs goods. Oh well all I got to say. Hopefully we can go back to the older slightly more secretive approach and keep more things away from the public forums to prevent the problems were are having now.
No leeching @ the SRL forums. SRL is for the beginner and the advanced, for the hobbyist and the semi-professional alike. No leeching means you will have to participate @ the SRL-forum. We are constantly in search of Testers and/or Talented Scripters, but 0 postcount and a HD stacked with good scripts is no option here. The Dev. team has worked 1000 's of hours on this project and we are giving SRL out for free, but you will need to make your contribution.

i feel the same exact way, and i think we are giving way too many good scripts to leechers that come here. they do nothing for us, all they do is bring mroe attention to us (especially from jagex). I hate to sound mean and all, but I really couldn't care less now. I think SRL-Forums should be closed to any more registrations in addition to pruning a ton of leechers. I look at the SRL members section and then at the free section, and I cannot believe it. I cannot understand why these leechers have access to some of our best scripts. I'm not sure if it was worth it to become an SRL member. When I was applying for membership, I was thinking how awesome it would be. Members would be combining forces ot create sick scripts, there will be goodworking, updated scripts there, but when I was accepted as a member, I found I was totally wrong. I'm not saying I don't want to be a member, but this site could SERIOUSLY be improved. These are just my opinions. Sorry to get off track a bit, but it is all related to the same topic. But i totally agree with you.

Great post, it's unfortunate that its like this but I think we need to do something or else we will be subjected to constant, annoying updates which we will need to fix every week. We should make SRL more of a private community I think, closing regs and pruning would be a start.

I have an idea. As just a guest, you can view the forums, am I correct?
Make is so in registration, people will have to supply some code that they have written themselves, as well as a little bit about themselves. Surely this would cut down on the number of leechers, maybe by half or even more.
Also, I know it would take a while to validate
every single script, to make sure there is no copy + pasting going on, but if I were made to wait a week or two as a leecher, I would most probably move on to another website.
Also, pruning of inactive members, as well as leecher, would be a great idea. Although, granted, I was a leecher to start off with, so there must be some system to this.
Just my two cents, because we cannot completely cut off registration.

By leecher I mean someone who has not posted 1 time. Theres alot of those people and we really have no clue how many of those are using scripts. Get rid of alot of irresposible users to take some heat off us that do not abuse scar and get caught.
To get an idea of what I am talking about go to members list and see how many people are leechers or first time posters. I really think this forum needs a more hardline approach. I do not think they need to know scripting to get in here or post here but I do feel they need to at least post here on occasion to stay a member.
Is it pruning time again? Time flies.

Sounds good, but make it within a time frame, like if they've been a first time poster for more than a week… prunage.

Ya and I do agree with you there needs to be a limitation more than what is implemented on who can join as well. I think its nuts 100 new strangers can just come in here everyday and use the best scripts there are with no input whatsoever. I really have no idea how registration could be restricted but it really needs to be in some way. I
They are given a week or so notice in order to become active, and if not they get deleted.
Something like that. I forget.

I don't think I quite agree, 27,000 people outside the white house protesting something would make more than just a dent, although the population is much greater. Obviously there are different worlds… but still say there are 100 worlds, 2700 people still is a large number outside the white house ;).
I understand your reasoning, but I truly think Jagfec is trying to update their game to appeal to everyone, the same way they have been doing in one way shape or another the whole time now…I think it's pretty naive to think they would make complete overhauls like this simply to combat SCAR, when there are so many minor subtle things they could do to impede us more. We obviously know they are watching us, and when they want to stop us or really slow us down, I doubt seriously it would take as drastic of a overhaul like it has today.

we should all start filling are scripts with a bunch of syntax errors and maybe a wrong color or a lowercase where a capital should be so they actually have to spend time looking and learning
also 27000 member each with say 10 macro accounts its actually like 270,000 that are almost always on and right now there are 170,000 people playing yea now thats alot of bots

I agree with what most of you are saying, but not completely. I want to take things further… if we did that script application thing, the admins would be OVERLOADED and not be able to do it. And half the people would just copy scripts. I think registration should just be cut off. And with the 1 time poster thing, I disagree. I still see a bunch of noobs with like, 20 posts. That needs to end. I say anyone that has been a user for more than 3 weeks and has 20 or under posts should be prunz0red. And move the best scripts to members FTW!! Do not release anymore script versions (of the good scripts, like Wizzy's essminer or guildraper) that work with the new RS interface to free scripts!!! this is our chance to make members a more rewarding place and determine the users to script even more!!

I agree.
Regestered user needs to be for learning to script and getting to know the community, the scripts in that section should only be the basic powercutters and stuff posted for feedback, basic powercutters etc is all someone really need if they are the kind of person we want in this community, others can learn the basics of putting a script together etc from it and the person who posts it gets valuble feedback they can use to improve thier scripts until they are enough for membership.
Members needs to be for advanced learning and scripts that are useful.
Its stupid that someone can sign up in about 20secounds and leech scripts that took hours to make and then use them for weeks without puting any effort in other than the time it took them to think up a username and password.

I agree with ram about the fact they could slow us down alot more in easier ways but they are doing things to annoy srl users and to slow them down. You have to remember not only are there srl users here but at alot of other cheat communities as well such as sythe, fagex, rscheta etc. and a whole lot more others with just as many or more users. If all of those people are using armys thats more than just quite a bit of players.
Already over a 100 new users today really and growing still. We will become an annoyance to jagex this way and thats not what we really need. Inactive users with no posts can run some of the best scripts there are and I really do not think that should be so. I mean botting on runescape in general is outta control with the many different bots and its all gonna come crashing down eventually.

I completely agree with the people that said all of the good scripts should be moved to members. IMO, even fantastic scripts that have always been available to the public (i.e. Wizzup's essence miner) should be moved to members, only available for members.
In essence (no pun intended), what we are debating here is a way to allow good scripters, valuable people that we want in our community, to get the really nice scripts. All the leechers / people who plain just do not want to learn SCAR/SRL, can get all of the basic things. Don't get me wrong - these basic scripts should not be lacking in quality. Instead, they should be made to perform just one simple task - for example, cutting trees. Not cutting and banking.
This would force the people who actually want to learn how to script, to learn, and to apply. All the other people (namely leechers) would not even be bothered and would move on.
This may seem a drastic move - for it would change how the whole forum works. And it is a drastic move. But in the end, I think it is the best solution, and the benefits would far outweight the negatives.

You could not app normal member. Theres too many people coming each day. There would be over 100 new apps a day and no one would vote or wanna even look at them all.
I agree with everyone else though good scripts need moved and we need to prune inactive users and just basically make the free forums for the scripts that the free users make and for tutorials on scar scripting. This will prevent abuse of the scripts I am sure is going on now.

And we need a dev or admin to look at this really soon, before SRL is fixed and before they update their sick free scripts to work for leechers. And if any of the leechers fix the scripts to work, then they deserve it to work. SO PLEASE, BEFORE THE SCRIPTS WORK AGAIN, MOVE THEM TO MEMBERS!!!
And BTW:
Do you guys think I should move my alcher / teleporter to members?? or should I just leave it there?
I would move it to members, but I think it is a simple enough type of script that someone non-member could make one that worked decently (not as good as mine though, of course =P)
Also, should we all just start moving our scripts to members as a type of movement (not a protest or anything), just to show what we think?

I definately think that the good scripts should be put into members, when I first made this account, My soul intentions of Joining SRL was for "OMG GOOD SCRIPTS THAT WORK AWESOME" Luckily for me I never even checked free scripts or I wouldnt of had the motivation to learn scripting :P
So not being able to have good scripts was what motivated me to learn(And a person whom I really respected told me I should) I had never even heard of an Include when I joined, it was hard at first but anyone can learn to script, I made an alcher and unfortunately the forums got reset and it's lost now. but I dont want to bore you with my story.
I dont think people with little posts should be pruned, people can have very informative posts, perhaps you could make it that you need to release a script every so often or prove you know what your doing? A test of some sort?

My suggestions:
Pruning of old accs and leechers.
Most scripts to members
Keep at least the non-profit scripts (high quality)
Keep a few banking scripts so they know how banking works, (good scripts, no crap)
Maybe memberize a few people that don't script that much but are very active in the community?

No offense, but I think this is a terrible idea. Why would we want undeserving members? I totally disagree.

I say move ALL scripts that are good to the members section, unless the owner says to keep it in free.
Also, instead of moving the scripts, after 15 mins of running a free script, it will STOP and request your SRL u/p. If you don't enter it correctly/your IP changed, it will stop script and send a message to Fawki/soemone in charge of SRL.
Or Close regs.
I like paragraph 2 the best, would work out the best.

Why not just have SRL stats required in every script (Members), and if they choose an option "members" when that script is registered, then your ID/PASS will have to be of a member.

I agree with almost all of what has been said here, yes we need to prune free users wit a low post count and an "older" account, I don't know how old but maybe somewhere around 3 weeks. Also I do not think we should close applications, but I do think only certain people should be allowed to vote on applications or we need to get the message across that we have to be harsher in our voting. At least have like a time limit from when you become and SRL member to when you can vote on applications. I just recently started voting on applications, not because I haven't wanted to bother with them before, its just that I wanted to get a feel for what it takes to be an SRL member, but not that I look at what some SRL Members are saying about these application scripts its kind of sad. There are people posting saying "Wow your script is really good I hope you get in, Yes" and there are horrible mistakes in the script. Like infinite loops, no / little fail safes, just bad coding, and people are still voting YES. Its like they're not even reading / running the script they just look at the title of the script and maybe skim over it and VOTE! Its annoying because even though we've been getting a lot of very very good applications lately we've also been getting some bad ones, and people are just having troubles seeing the difference.
IMO This is what needs to be done…
[1]. Prune free users with post count < 10 after 3 weeks.
[2]. Require SRL Members to wait a certain time before they can
start voting on applications.
[3]. Make a grading scale for Member applications, not just "Main Point" but
an actual grading scale from 1 - 10 in like 10 categories.(I'll help work on this)
[4]. Move, "extremely" good scripts to the Members section, but leave examples of basic scripts in the free section. Scripts that would work but aren't very complex.
[5]. Maybe close any sign up for a while just to get things under control, maybe label it as "Site under Maintenance" If you try to sign up. At least for a little while, until we can get the forums under control.
I really hope WT-Fakawi, Boreas, or someone looks at this because everyone whos posted has at least one thing in common, Prune the Leechers!
I have a feeling they have read it

Thanks, I think I did post a while back when someone made a thread like this, I just think that the administrators don't want to deal with it, not saying that they're lazy its just a big task to do all that we're asking, and I think only Dankness can do a lot of it, but I don't know. If they do ever get around to talking about it I'll be all ears(well eyes).
@ RAM - Yea and thats why I didn't start voting until a while ago, but apparently people don't really care to wait around for a bit to actually get the hang of it all.
@ Del - Yea I think so too, maybe if they can make really good scripts and are still a somewhat trusted person then I'd say let them in, but if you don't trust em or have never even seen one good post out of them on the forums, and all of a sudden "BLAM!" they have this awesome script, I think I'd have to vote no. Just for the fact that you can't trust that they made this script and (b) they probably wouldn't contribute to SRL Members anyway if they never post.
