Jagex Messing with UpText?

I noticed that when I was checking for uptext to pick up a pickaxe off the ground, it was not correctly reading it… IsUpText('ith') was returning as false.

So I looked more into it, I have some pictures for you to compare:

It's a little hard to tell in those pictures, so here's a closer view, this is a closeup from the P to the K:

Maybe I'm just stupid and it's always been this way? If so then why is IsUpText coming up as false?

Always been that way, its offset.

maybe a more drastic offset…

Ah ok, thank you :). Excuse my noobness, but I still wonder why IsUpText isn't working, I do have a Wait before it checks for uptext.

IsUpText isn't 100%. Tarajunky has even created DTMs of letters to combat this.

Just wait for SCAR 3.12 :)

Each letter can have as much as two pixels offset.

On SCAR's functions or on RS?

On the SRL functions.

I noticed this too, its a big problem.. and tara is actually gonna make DTM's of the letters??? WOW..

Boreas

Sry for confusion. Tara has made DTMs of words looked for often in his scripts, because they need to work 100%, and the effort is worth it for how often they are used.

It's not that hard to adjust the maximum offset, can't you just edit some SRL stuff real quick?

You could, but then you run the risk of missing 'l' etc. But it won't matter soon.

Yeah, I've made DTMs for things like 'Chicken', or 'Pot', or 'Attack Duck' for different scripts I've written. Not for individual letters, but for the whole word or phrase. The letter colors change, and the positions change, so I always thought DTMs were the natural solution, where you could have both color and position tolerance for each point. It works VERY well, but it takes some tweaking to get it perfect.

And yes, SCAR 3.12 will be a great update for the uptext, but I have nothing to do with it.

Cool? Heh, can I get an ETA?

This is what I've done in my varrock west miner (released soon) to combat this problem:

 if IsUpText('ine') then
begin
Writeln('Found the rock');
Mouse(x, y, 0, 0, true);
RockClicked := True;
end else
begin
Mouse(x, y, 0, 0, False);
if ClickOption('ine', 1) then
begin
RockClicked := True;
end else
begin
ClickOption('ancel', 1);
RockClicked := False;
end;
end;

works pretty well. also adds in a bit of antiban, cause of the right clicks. this is also good for if the randomness on the original move mouse to the rock puts you over an npc or something, so the uptest isnt mine, but the option to mine is still there when you right click.

Thank you for this. Very clever idea, works very well, i'll be using it, and i'll credit you :).

Couldn't you just use ChooseOptionEx(txt: string): Boolean for clicking since if it doesnt click it it chooses Cancel?

The Claw

probably lol.
