Hey fawk, congrats to all devs and admins and such. I was just wondering what would be the minimum specs for the box solver. I am sure, you would just need a ram upgrade if anything. I am on my laptop, so I guess I could get an upgrade.

It wouldn't be a RAM upgrade, if anything it would be a processor upgrade.

Actually no it wouldnt. How much do you know about computers?

Enough. Well, could you explain to me why it would be a RAM upgrade then?

processors afftect the speed at which ram can opperate. adding ram gives you a bigger pool of resources to work with

Ok the reason why is because it allows the applications, to store more things in the memory, which means less for the proccesor cache. Which allows for accelerated application performance.

It wouldn't be RAM, it'd be CPU.

But if you have 4 gigs of RAM and a 800mhz CPU, the CPU is not fast enough to scan through all of the pixels for color finding.

I have 1024 ram, AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ CPU, NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT GFX.

I hope this will do :(

The computer I got, Was for free. from a college, I fixed about 25 computers and then they gave me one. Its specs are(Crap int. Gfx card) 2.2ghz celeron 256 ram. I will upgrade to, 512 or 1gig, depends if I can run multiple virtual pc's. Anyone know how many virtual pc's I could run with this setup???

Running win xp would already require atleast 128 ram + the cpu usage, i'd even recommend not using em  :p

Sure, otherwise we're all up the creek without a paddle. although the 7900 does diddly squat. :P

Its like running 10++i HD movies… you'd think the 256-512MB dedicated DDR3 could lend a hand but no… all processor.

db_cheater. You will probably struggle just running 1 XP virtuals alongside your 'real'. XP.
I'm playing around with a Win 98SE VM at the moment, but can't get the NET working yet.
I originally bought 98SE, but I got an iso off bittorrent, since my disc not at this house.

I'll let you know how many 98SE VM's I can run.
