Possible to rent VM Server Space ?

Ok, this was a thought of mine that has popped in and out of my head for awhile now….

Would it be possible to rent server space to be able to host your own VM ?

If so, any idea how much Space/Bandwidth would be required ? ….Stripped down Operating system to bare minimals being able to run a "Stripped Down" SCAR, if possible ? ;) Freddy ? (Including SCSS ?)

Would the price of renting this space be viable ? No Idea of cost ATM…..

Security ? Accessing our VM …..Jagrex being able to tell where we are logged in from ?

Additional Suggestions ?

Please discuss….

"Desperate" ? I just want to know if it's possible, feasible and if so, how much…I have a few other ideas in mind…just wondering if there is server space available to rent, that would be sufficient enough to run a VM OS…

Well it would require atleast a VPS host for the memory required to do it. Normally a web server with 128mb memory runs 20-30 bucks a month and u can upgrade memory for 7-10 bucks per 128 so to run 1 xp ur looking at 30 bucks probably

U could use Hamanch or a TightVNC to give a remote grapical desktop to access it too I have a computer setup behind my tv that i use to download Audio/Video torrents and it runs on XUbuntu linux which i control either thru ssh terminal access or soetimes TightVNC client fora desktop so a remote server could be setup the same. Mostly bjust the memory of running xp would be a pain but its a awesome idea really lol

Eww Xubuntu :p I never liked it. Wasn't there a minimal Ubuntu download somewhere?

But yeah, if you want to auto 24/7, build a pc, all you need is the motherboard, small harddrive, ethernet port(or wireless card), 256MB ram and a cd drive. Runescape is one of those wonderful games where you don't need a video card to play. :)

Well thats true. You could just remote desktop into each computer…. and set everything up then leave. Saving yourself massive screen space

Pyro, you're missing the whole point….I'm asking about totally out sourcing it…for applications…and people that don't have access to their own computer or limited access….

I admit, I'm not as technically savvy as Dank, but I'm not completely inept either,

Thanks for your input Dank, I'm looking into some of the things you suggested..

Or use your existing monitor to set it all up and use a remote desktop purely to check up on them. :p

Well once they are all networked. You do not need to keep changing the screens. Remote desktopping does log the user out however so you would need a remote assitance,

Ram: ummm nope i didnt :p Read post above mine…..
