BTC, skrill and Western union remain great payment methods, and sellers usually charge less for their gold for these methods.

I'd just like to mention that skrill can be chargeback'd. So, imo, you should remain cautious of skrill payments, especially for bigger trades. Example: https://www.sythe.org/threads/skrill-chargeback-275-382m-sale/

-Any advice for how to choose gold farming methods?

Less click-intensive activities (e.g. more afk) will generally result in lower banrates, all else equal, imo.
I'd also recommend keeping in mind how big a market there is for the item the goldfarming method is creating, if you plan on scaling big.

Is it necessary to avoid very common methods (such as those easily found on osrs wiki, google, youtube)?

Depends on how good your scripts are at avoiding detection.

-Advice for how often to sell gold, and whether to use different accounts for rwt? (ie funnel money to burner account before selling)

Yeah you'll be wanting to use mule accounts. Will likely be wanting to automate muling too.

-Best sites for finding gold buyers? Sythe, ____?

For an untrusted and inexperienced seller, most likely playerauctions. Though I guess sythe is a good choice too if you're including resellers as gold buyers.

-Is paypal safe enough for accepting payment? BTC?

If you know how to avoid and contest disputes/chargebacks, generally, yes. If you don't, absolutely not. BTC yeah, just make sure to get atleast 1 conf as you don't want to get double spent on. e.g. https://www.sythe.org/threads/awlieee-double-spend-scam/

-Has anyone declared income on taxes from selling rsgp?

Ye. If you're gonna be doing it and feel pretty clueless, you'll probably wanna hit up a tax prep service such as H&R Block. The agent there can research the situation for you, and you can just take a look at what they end up sending. In the future you can copy what they did, if you want to do it yourself.

I'm also interested to hear if anyone has thoughts regarding the "ethics" of gold farming with intent to sell. There is always going to be demand so someone has to fill it.. right?

Interesting question! I'm not sure. I remember not being interested (i.e too lazy) to add humanlike mistakes to my script's gameplay. I then reflected on the usefulness of runescape goldfarming to society in general, considered it to be a pretty useless activity, and decided to just stop. lol. I reckon if I was living in say venezuela, or perhaps even India/China/etc, my thinking and interest would've been different due to the notable potential income, compared to local work opportunities.

If it had to be filled, Jagex could easily spawn the items/gp in. And I'd say no, the demand can just go unfulfilled. And, it going unfulfilled due to a lack of a functioning black market would likely reduce the amount of people losing lots of irl money to gambling. Which, while not really mattering a lot, would likely be a good thing, imo.
