Commitment Issues? (non relationship)

I think I seriously may have an issue with keeping committed to things.

I noticed it when I made that "scripting long scripts" thread. I never finish things like that. Kind of stupid, but listen:

I used to be in Boy Scouts, got to Star Scout, was supposed to get life or something, and then eventually just dropped out for some reason. I regret it.

I love playing soccer, but hate the practices, and most of the time hate most of it all together, but I love playing it. (?)

Random stuff like that, is there some weird thing that causes people to lose commitment to their life?

Being bored or having too many responsibilities. It's the same with me, I barely care if I'm dead or alive now.

To me it seems like you just don't like routine. You like trying new things, and get bored with the same old stuff.

So go with that; try as many new things as you can until you find one you like. Stick with that until you get bored and then find another new thing. There isn't really anything wrong with that, it just seems like you are a curious person who wants the full flavour of the world before sticking with something you like.

I was exactly the same and kept jumping from sport to sport, from skill to skill. Eventually I found i missed some fo the stuff i left behind and have now come back to it.

Seems to me you are quite young? 11-15 i'm guessing (don't take offense if i'm wrong, i apologize then) Young people like change a lot, and as you grow older you seem to become set in your ways.

I said he's bored…I'm 12, I don't know how the moderators know so much.

The more personalities/activities you hate, the closer you are to the one you like.

I skipped around a few sports before I realized I love Basketball, I practically suck as Basketball but I'm good at Baseball which I don't really like XD.

Guess which one I picked, I picked Bball cuz I liked what I was doing, over the summer I practiced 4-5 hours per day with my friends and eventually got good enough to join the team, though I'm still on the bench lol…

I never skipped anything. I've played hockey since I was 6, but then again I live in Canada..:p

If you have commitment issues, maybe if you actually did get in a relationship, that would help them? Haha, I don't know.. Star, I think he's 14.

I have the same exact problem. Everything I've every tried always came easy, and I was good most everything I tried, but I never could stick with one thing long enough for it to matter. I was good when I tried hockey and soccer at a young age, but I hated not being in control of when I would play.

I got into web design at about 11 and taught myself HTML and CSS. By 12 I became staff at the largest forum skinning website (staff violating COPPA :p). After a few months I had resigned. Started skating, got good for my age, then completely stopped. I tried wakeboarding, I live shoreline to a lake, I caught on fast and just decided to stop going.

The things like Web/Graphic I still like to do at select times, but when I start making something, it starts to come into something good, and then I just stop working on it and lose interest. I have about 100 good unfinished website templates that I took a break from and never got back too.

I got deep into paintball, and ended up getting on to a sponsored division 3 xball team. However, after the latest indoor winter season was over, I decided to quit the team as I didn't like having a schedule, i wanted to just be able to go play when I wanted.

I found the only thing I have been able to stick to is Halo 2, for years, and having played in the last MLG FFA tournament, I cant seem to stop playing. (Competitive H2 = Cussing out your TV for playing bad.)

Long ramble, yes, I know. Just got going as I have the same problems.

Interesting, makes sense…

Yea, I'm 14 :D

@Brown: That's leet that you became staff at a site @ 12! I remember getting into stuff like that when I was like 11-13 and I look back at it thinking "Holy crap! I was smart!", lol! Sometime between 10-12 I memorized this in a program: http://www.anim8or.com/tutorials/eggplant/index.html I loved my egg plant!

Learn an instrument *hint hint guitar* ;)

keeps me amused whenever i'm bored and don't mean to brag or anything but i've developed a bit of skill along the way :D

EDIT: Aww what? i'm away for 4 days and my activity goes *BANG* *CRASH* *BOOM* ?

lol i was away for 2 weeks my activity is like -10

yea guitar i agree.
i also have the same problems. the two things that i have found i can stick with and like doing is lacrosse and guitar (playin for 6 years, i'm pretty good at guitar) and i get bored of doing one thing so easily. for example going back to halo 2, i played that for my whole 7th grade summer. Near the end of that summer i got bored playing legit and i started modding ( you have to play halo to understand). That cut into half of my 8th grade year because i got into that. Then that got boring so i stopped playing all together. Thats when i discovered runescape. That wasted the rest of my 8th grade year and cut into this year in the beginning. i quit that because my friends stopped. Then i did nothing special. My friends got back into runescape and i tried to but it was so boring. thats when i remembered about scar. i was like hmmmm cheating always makes things fun so here i am now. im 15 btw
