DDTM's

Hey all. I'm wondering if its possible to make a DDTM out of this:

Heres a zoomed up -

I want it so that I can always walk back to somewhere in the circle, preferably the red dot, after mining a rock thats further away. I know how to do all that, I just need to know how to make the DDTM properly :)

I've tried Nielsie's DDTM maker, but the thing is I'm not even sure on where to make the points. I'm assuming I would do it on the points of the rock that are always the same colour like Fawki did on his Goblin Schreddular. But yer I'm new to DDTM's so I dunno :)

As always, help appreciated.

yes err the colours might change a lot and with too high tol it might start clicking other stuff. as for what points to use thats a bit tough because simply a point on each of those 3 rocks would probly also pick up the 3 rocks next to it. so i'd make the original point on one of those 3 rocks and then do 2 more points on the remaining 2 rocks in that cluster then put another point on the rock at the top of ur circle. hope that made sense. gl

Rkroxpunk summed it up nicely. If you were to make a DDTM of those rocks, the colors would change often and too high tol would cause problems. I think i saw an autocolor for those kind of rock though, but i'm unsure.

function FindRockColor: Integer;

{*******************************************************************************
function FindStoneColor: Integer;
By: Tarajunky
Description: Autodetecs Stone (Mine Rock) Color on Minimap
*******************************************************************************}

Both of which are in Core/AutColor.scar. I believe FindStoneColor is new. Since i know FindRockColor is the gray kind, i'm guessing FindStoneColor is the brown type, but i'm unsure as even though it says "(Mine Rock)" i remember some gray ones being rocks that you can mine too. Then again, you may not want either as i've gotten problems with FindRockColor, but maybe it works better now.

In my experience, FindRockColor returns the lighter color of the rocks. If FindStoneColor does the same for the brown type, then you'd have to make the points you use be spots where the lighter color is. I generally try to get them as near to the center of the rock as i can, so that they aren't overlapped by white dots or red dots or whatever. The more points you use, the more accurate it will be. But the more points you use, the more problems you could get. If you were to make points on three rocks that are together, you would probably end up in different places each time. If you were to use maybe around five, three from the three rocks together and two from the two above it, it would be more accurate.

Use 4 points of the rocks around, area size 2, with the lightest rock colour (maybe add a colour pick option).
For the center point (ground) use the max tolerance (somewhere around 300) so it will find it even when a player is on top of it.

Since you asked for a DDTM, you don't need to use colors.
Make the user the the color in the beginning, then create a DDTM from with once. ;)

BTW:
A DDTM Editor (nielsie of sky scripter) can become handfull too.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Hmm..if the mining symbol is on top of one or two of the rocks, that will mess it up yea? :(

edit - ok, i've been able to make them and find them on the minimap. the only problem is it keeps finding the cluster of rocks next to the ones i made the DDTM from, lol. Any ideas why?

show us the DDTM in the editor. I'm thinking u either chose dodgy points or u made them all with a tolerance of 300 which IMO is stupid, because that means it can be any colour, anywhere meaning ur DDTM would be anywhere.

oh and thx newtoautoing i didn't know about that stone autocolor. can a dev tell me whether findrockcolor has improved because it sucked arse in the previous versions of SRL

and its all on 0 tol (will be changed later), and always finds the rocks to the left

hmmm sounds like ur having same problem all my DDTM's had.
the only real thing u can do is try changing ur last rock, like ur longest point make it onto a different rock. nm u can do about that though…

damn. so all that i can do it mess around and try to find one which always works? cause at one point I had it finding the right rocks, then i went up the street and when i came back it was finding the wrong ones again

Add a few more subpoint for more accuracy.

1 on top, 1 on bottom of mine.
Maybe 1 more in middle, and mainpoint middle.
