Lets become more of a service website?

I think the biggest hurdle to retaining newcomers is the initial setup process. It's a damn process even for someone that knows what they're doing. To this date, I still have yet to see anyone get my AIO scripts working due to the nature of having numerous includes and specific requirements just to get the scripts to compile. I've even gone as far as zipping my entire simba dir and emailing it to friends, and they still have headaches trying to figure out how to compile.

Part of the draw, for me at least, into SRL back in the day was that even though I was technically a leecher, I still felt like a part of the community due to reporting bugs and using scripts that had stat trackers. Even though I wasn't contributing scripts, I could still use public ones and boost their numbers. It took me a long while (10+yrs) to finally take the jump into writing some code and developing something of a script to share with the community. I'm kicking my own ass for not getting involved sooner when the forum was still alive.

Anyways, I have a few ideas for what can be done to revive this place if anyone is interested.

Mobile stat tracking & script status: An app that would utilize a web server of some sort to allow scripters to send updates that can be viewed via mobile app. For instance, a developer might be able to track script stats as well as failures or terminations in real time. Users could also use this app to track the status of their bots while away from the computer.

All-in-one package implementation: Bundle popular/necessary includes into an SRL package that would allow anyone to download and jump in with little to no hassle regarding installation or initial setup. I'm not sure what the state of OSRS is, although I know it has to be better than RS3. I feel like we would retain a lot more people if we could give them a small taste of what SRL & Color botting can do via built-in community scripts.

All in one community package: As I mentioned earlier, I think it would be a good idea to get some people to focus on making a community package that we can provide through SRL sort of like a demo of what can be done should you choose to invest your time in the community. This would be a collection of scripts where availability is locked behind membership level tiers. Much like how the forum already operates. This wouldn't be anything serious, but would get slightly more complex and introduce new skill scripts as you contribute to the community and gain membership levels.

As it stands now, it seems like the short list of members that are continuing to develop and contribute to SRL community are slowly losing interest and moving on to other things.

EDIT:
There are currently 785 users online. 5 members and 780 guests
If this isn't a clear indication that we need to find a way to entice newcomers into taking the plunge and contributing to the community, then I don't know what is.

We need to make this change! We need to get this place active again.

Could something like OSBot be created where the script repository gave access to scripts, without actually providing the user with the source code?

It's kinda crazy how OSRS is reaching pre 07 peak numbers and yet SRL is falling off. I still love Runescape although I don't even play at all. My master plan is to create a bunch of USEFUL scripts that mass release them to the public.

In the past year I've made two scripts:

A chin bot that hunts very well and levels up fast. However my accounts keep getting banned.
A lumby chicken killer bot that levels up fast. But again my accounts keep getting banned.

So I quickly got frustrated. I'm not sure why they're getting banned.

But I think it's super easy to get back a bunch of users and get new ones.

bump, think it maybe time to revive these forums. Pretty sure everyone who voted against this idea is most likely inactive.
