honestly i like srl forums, and im glad it has been so successful since the forums became public, and i have been thinking about donating money to the site just for the simple fact that im a nice guy, and i dont want to sound like im getting nothing out of the forums for donating, but could there be a diff name color for members(or anyone) who donates, or a diff title. or something along them lines, or even a generosity cup?

You basically want recognition that you donated? I suppose they could.

I'm fine with it as long as it doesn't get people extra features, etc.

It is somewhat unfair, as some people are unable to donate, but it could probably get a good amount of donations to keep our site running

Probably something you guys have already tossed around .. but perhaps there could be some upgraded scripts available for those people who donate money to the site? People who have zero scripting ability (like me :p ) would probably be more than willing to help out by donating .. and it would be awesome to have access to some "better" scripts.

1 some of the best scripts are in the free section(ess miner etc)
2 you can learn to script
3 feel free to donate:)
4 i think there should be at least some reward(title or something) which might persuade people to donate

Well, since running this server costs alot, you could always pm Dankness about that. He pays the bills. I dont run the server anymore…

Donations are always welcome, not sure if you can recieve anything for it in return. If it is a title, I guess it wont do any harm. Direct Dankness to this thread. I will discuss it with him.

ok for one, have you done anything for the community?, 2. i work very hard for my money and its something i dont come off of very easy, specially if its for something others take advantage of for free

So it's nothing special but it's there so people know you have helped out with the cost of the website they are using.

nah…i wouldn't put the amount of money just like different ranks of money maybe? like little thing under name…with green for any money, yellow for over 100, etc

If it is anything more then a little cup icon next to your name, I see TONS of problems with it. Rscheata is a good example i suppose. Don't do it.

the problem is that people will start donating just to look good, which kind of defeats the purpose of donating in the first place

i don't think Dankness would mind more ppl donating, lolz. I don't think this site gets enough money ads/donations, that it pays itself yet. And if i could donate money, i would, but most of the ppl here, are 13-15, and just can't..

New idea : how bout a page that displays all the members and how much they have donated so it doesn't change anything it just adds something we don't have to see if we don't want to.

nah it would turn into a competition. Why would u want it to display how much u've donated? All it's saying is: "ooh look at me and how much i've donated" I think a cup or a little title under name like donater would be good but the only thing that would come from showing how much u've donated is people saying ooh i'm better than u i've donated more. There's no other reason why u would want it shown….

Agreed, just a little cup but no numbers.

honestly just like at the bottom of srl list, you can make new name color and title for donators and donating members, or donating developers, and if you really want to show stats of donating members, dank could prolly create a separate page with donating stats

Well since only 3 seperate people have donated any money to the forums, i didnt really see the need in this. Im not really sure if giving people new ranks,cups,etc for money is a good idea but its not a reallybad idea either. I did think about a seperate page to keep track of donators and possibly might add this. I will talk to fakawi about maybe a different color name but i have already turnd down money for member status afew times and strongly feel you should earn access to higher parts of the forum rather then buy them.

You prettymuch correct on that,all of itlol. If people want to giveback to the forum and cant donate just click on a ad every so often. You dont have todo it everyday just once in awhile it helps…

Do it. You will get way more $$$ for the sweet forums, but don't display the amount, just give a crown if it is $10 or more, or people will donate 1 cent that feel special.. lol

I belive dank said that since he started hosting only one person donated!

I believe that the cup should be for any amount more than 1$. (And nothing diferent even if you donate 100)And that it should go away after a month. That insures people won't be bragging (because no one will know how much you donated). It also ensures that people get recognition for being generous, and it also keeps funds coming.
