Script has 15kb size, but simba opens an empty page.

So I've been working on a script for a couple of days now. I Just finished it a couple of mins ago, and saved the file, then made sure it was working by closing simba and reopening the script. I then restart my computer, go to open my script again, and Simba opens a blank page

but when I go to my scripts folder, the script does not have a size that corresponds to an empty page!

is the file just corrupt now? Did I lose my script? any chance of recovery?

I'm willing to send the script file in a PM to someone so they can confirm getting the same results.

Thank you

What happens when you open it as a text file?

Just tried opening the file in Notepad, opened an empty page as well.

If you want to send me the script I can see what happens for me.

It's just filled with blank characters for me. Unless you can view previous versions of the file (Rightclick -> Restore previous versions) you're probably out of luck.

Damn! :( that would be the 2nd time I've lost a finished script. I hope there is a solution tho!

Maybe get Dropbox and make C:\Simba\Scripts a linked folder or something so everytime you save the script, it's automatically uploaded to Dropbox where you can then grab the latest working revision from

That's actually a really good idea! Everyone should be made aware of this if not already!

I use multiple computers, so dropbox is where all my scripts live. My Simba/Scripts folder is pretty much empty

Thank you for that suggestion. Never crossed my mind to do that tbh, hopefully that will help prevent future losses!

I use windows OneDrive myself, since it comes with windows 10, I'm not sure if they have it on other versions.

The file's encoding is ANSI for some reason, AFAIK Simba saves UTF-8 without BOM. Your shit seems pretty unrecoverable. Tried converting, just gives me blank chars; have a look through… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byte_order_mark see if you can make sense of what you might have accidentally done and make sure not to do it again.

the file is just filled with 0010 0000 0010 0000 0010 0000 etc etc

e: as in it contains no information or data.

Thats so strange, because I literally did nothing! I just saved it, checked it was working then restarted. Thanks for your input.

Guess It's lost then. Oh well, time to rewrite it. Thanks for looking into it.

Can confirm, Dropbox is king. If you want to be really fancy, GitHub or TortoiseSVN can version-control your stuff too.
