Mouse motion detected by Jagex?

Hi, I'm a professional programmer working in the field of Image Processing and I've been writing my own autoers for RS for about a year now (I didn't know about Scars until very recently).

I'm interested to see that Scars moves the mouse between click points: my programs don't and I haven't been caught yet. Do you guys think it's really necessary?

I made the assumption that in order to decrease bandwidth Jagex probably only gets a message when the mouse is clicked rather than when it moves. Yes, I know that the top left text changes when the mouse moves, but I assume that is being done on the client side rather then the server.

Has anyone done any packet sniffing (beyond my capabilities) to determine this?

I'm pretty sure the consensus is that jagex only monitors the movement of the mouse once your account has been flagged.

Thanks. When I get the time I'll add an h-spline path between points, complete with random overshoot etc. fun fun fun!

Just thinking about this still, graphics tablets (like Wacom) and touchscreens don't necessarily move the mouse between clicks, possible defence there.

IIRC, people have said that Jagex does monitor your mouse movements regularly. It was sometime in the last 6-9 months that the code was inserted into the client. Of course, this would generate an enormous amount of information for Jagex to sift through, so I'm not sure that anyone understands what Jagex is actually doing.

I also remember someone asking Jagex if they would be banned for using a tablet and just clicking point to point and they said it would not be a problem.

I've been autoing for about 18 months and everyone has always said that turning Silent Mouse on in SCAR is pretty much instant bannage. I've never tested it out, though.

Of course, Jagex can pretty much ban you for anything, and you have no recourse, so even if you say "I was using a tablet PC" it probably won't make any difference.

Welcome! It's always good when knowledgeable people join the community.

How would they determine if your running a tablet or a pc?

Only way i could think of is they catch you moving the mouse when your suppose to be on a tablet pc?

Tablet pc = touchpad = intsant mousemovement
And yes, they DO monitor mouse movements, or at least once you are flagged.
It records the mousepos every 50 ms and sends them every click if there are more then 40 positions.
If you really want to know the exact details, look at a deob.

I always thought it was a "just in case" feature, however holding the mouse button down for a certain amount of time holds some more reasoning.

I believe that they may monitor mouse movements, and only check them if somebody gets reported, or if the account is flagged they will check it to. I also think that missing a random instantly gets your account flagged for a brief period of time.

That's how I think of it, I actually have no clue though… lol.

Very interesting. I'm convinced. Having looked around a bit I'm now adding Catmull-Rom splines to my code. Thank's to all!

Then they probably scan your account, and send a few more randoms then usual without you even noticing ;) probably.

At most, the client only records your mouse position every 50 milliseconds (this is a hardcoded restriction in the client), and that's when you don't have a queued load of mouse positions to send. These are sent at click time.

There is absolutely no way you are going to match any mouse algorithm by the information Jagex gets about your mouse movements. I think it has more to do with ensuring there is active mouse participation to match the player's activity (i.e, mouse isn't idle while the client is mining rocks … )

As for the logout button, I (recently) debugged the entire stream class, and only a byte or two is sent on logout (0x** 00 00 00), so …

When it comes to processing power, you have a point. However, consider the feat that jagex can ban based on drop trading, trading through pking, trading through dying to monsters …

One more thing from my own experience: In my scripts I make all kinds of wacky mouse movements. I have made the same assumption, and I have never been banned because of mouse wackyness.

If you are flagged you get banned pretty quckly from very strange movements (own experience).
But I don't think they will look at your movements while you aren't flagged.
Assuming you only use your own scripts and that your scripts are pretty good I don't think you have any flagged chars, so they don't monitor your movements.

On the side subject of being flagged:

Two accounts of mine are flagged, they are new (lvl 5-10) and I had them training with an auto-fighter. Chances are someone reported them because of their low lvl and non responsiveness. One had a Drill Demon and the other had a Maze. Since then I've been doing quests and watching them more closely. Basically I'd say to act "human" while using them.

I don't think that Jagex flags every account with your IP address, seeing as my other accounts are doing fine.

Also, if you act "human", what's the difference? You're just saving yourself a million clicks, right? ;)

If you also look around the forums, IP's aren't that important to Jagex because of the router problem. UID's might be, though.

my theory, is that they save your mouse movemets to a folder/wutever. then if you get reported/miss toi many randoms. they look into it to see wut uve been doing.
