I am using Windows 7 , 64-bit.

Simba console prints:

SRL: Logfile = C:\Simba\Includes\SRL-6/logs/SRL log (03-06-15 at 04.24.02 PM).txt
-- setupSRL()
---- Setting up SRL...

Smart is using 32-bit version of Java as I can see from the Java console. I have installed both 64bit and 32bit versions of Java

Java console prints:
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -10460
at java.langString.substring<Unknown Source>
at smart.client.initApplet<Client.java:653> etc.

I ran RuneScape once in Firefox, as suggested in some posts, but no good.

I am assuming that no Smart Client started— Have you tried to uninstall Java 8 and remain with only Java 7 32-bit installed? And, of course, change your PATH parameters in your system environment variables?

I installed Java 7 32-bit just now, uninstalled all other Javas and tried again. Still the same.

I also tried adding C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\; to the PATH variable under Environment variables. Still the same.

Java command works in cmd.exe

Also it was working on the same computer before, but after I reinstalled my Windows it no longer works.

I have tried:
- Run RuneScape once in a regular browser (FireFox) and then try with Simba again.
- Load RuneScape in browser and press S during fetching and try again with Simba.
- Set OpenGL in gfx settings in browser.
- Run Simba as administrator.
- Add JAVA_HOME = C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin

I have searched the whole forum and I'm reallly losing my mind here :S

try changing your path to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_45\bin\javaw.exe (just add a w to the end of java)
(the difference is it goes to the javaw not jave file, not sure the difference)
 program new;
{$DEFINE SMART}
{$I SRL-6/SRL.Simba}
{$i srl-6/lib/misc/srlplayerform.simba}
{$I SPS/lib/SPS-RS3.Simba}

begin
clearDebug();
smartShowConsole := false;
setupSRL();
wait(3000000);
end.
try running this as default

No such folder as jre1.8.0_45 on my computer ( I have jre7 ), but I did try pointing the path variable to javaw.exe, but the result is the same.

and download java x86 OFFLINE. thatll give you the jre 1.8.0_45 folder

No no, he HAD Java 8 installed, he uninstalled it so that we can attempt to debug the issue by only having one version of Java present. And he swapped the PATH variable, which I presume that SMART is using. So switching back to Java 8 won't have any positive effect if the first installation was successful (most likely it was). Further, there are more compatibility issues with Java 8 and SMART as SMART was designed to work with Java 7, not 8.

I understand the frustration:duh:
Have you attempted to change the world you load?
Edit: Also, have you tried uninstalling Simba completely and reinstalling according to some of the guides on the forums? The problem seems to be within Java and the coding for SMART, not on your end-user part(Or so it seems)–Here is where I drew that conclusion:
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException
and here is a guide if needed—or wanted—for installations of Simba and SRL-6:
Coh3n's Guide for SRL-6

Also, does spawning a SMART client through the AeroLib or SRL-OSR include work for you?

I have not attempted to change the world as I don't know how to. Although I can see from Simba debug box that SMART is attempting to load a different world every time.

I have reinstalled Simba over 10 times, following C0h3n's guide.

I'll try SRL-OSR.

EDIT: SRL-OSR results in exactly the same error.

EDIT: Could it be a connection issue? I am using mobile internet, although in the browser RuneScape works fine.

Eek! Hmm, so if SRL-OSR doesn't work either, it isn't a problem with either of the includes. I would think the problem resides within Smart itself, but seeing as how you uninstalled multiple times and all, I think I'd rule that out.

Interesting thought. I guess it very well could be. I'd think that it'd give you a different error, but who knows? What do you mean by "mobile" internet— Do you mean 1) Internet access provided by a cellular company or, 2) internet access through a USB Dongle that provides wireless connection? Have you tried, say, a friend's or work's or even Starbuck's internet to test that theory out?

We WILL get this either figured out or circumvented.

Yes. If the a little message box pops up with the error, its a connection issue and not really related to Simba/SMART/your Java version/etc.

It is a little wireless router with a SIM-card in it.

I guess my only choice is to set up ADSL and hope SMART starts working then. :f:

Tell me how that goes. Wonder if using a device for USB tethering to your computer may work as well for the internet? :stirthepot:

There doesn't seem to be a way to connect the router directly to the computer.

Yeah, going to get ADSL tomorrow. Gl me :D
