I'm looking for a relatively large project to work on, and with the creation of SPS, I feel like a Farming script should be pretty doable.
Currently thinking of doing:
Trees (all patches, both regular and fruit).
Herbs (all patches).
Paying farmers, of course.
Other than that, I have no idea what to add, since I don't know all that much about the intricacies of farming - just the basics of how it works.
If you want to actually have like an overnight farmer sort of deal (with nothing else), there's no reason not to expand to bush patches (hops i think are complete trash so I wouldn't bother).
Some intricacies of farming:
-noting produce by using it on the farmer
-making use of the right teleportation items (cabbage port on explorer ring, ectophial, ardougne cape 4 are the ones I use for herbs, i think there is a crystal seed or something for teleporting to lletya tree, lunar spell teleports to the trollheim herb patch, probably a ton more that I missed look on the rs wiki for herb/farm/bush runs they probably have the info there)
-back when I used to do tree runs for getting 99 farming there was definitely a proper way such that you minimised the number of teleports you had to do (involving both fruit and normal trees, i know for a fact the tree gnome stronghold + village ones + spirit tree accessible ones should be done together right after each other)
-if you want, the herblore habitat has some stuff to plant (probably want to plant the herb with turns into juju farming pot, i think it's erzille or the one that started with a u)
-juju farming pot is epic for herb runs, as long as you arent doing like tarromin it's definitely super profitable (optional is using greenfingers aura if available)
-you could probably work in fruit patch farming alongside herbs if you are ambitious
- I would suggest grouping herb, fruit patches (they're all in the same place anyway) and maybe bushes into their own script and putting the trees (fruit + regular) in their own as well. You might as well start the tree script manually 1-2x a day since the waits are so long anyway if you're doing magic/palm/papaya/calquat. The smaller patch one would be more viable to run continuously because the downtime is around and hour or so rather than 9.
-always use supercompost, no exceptions, also equip the magic secateurs, they give a 10% boost (I think amulet of nature works too but I've been told it's slightly worse than secateurs, don't use nature if you have secateurs though)
-perhaps make good use of bank presets where you can
-watch out for full inventories when harvesting (it happens sometimes even if you note produce after each patch, juju farming + max greenfingers + magic secatuers can get up to I think 24 max at one patch)
-for herbs sometimes they're gonna be diseased when you check them (or dead if you're not lucky), in that case you need to buy plant cure from the farmer and use it on the herb/whatever and probably just check it on the next round
-there's a cactus in alkharid and a shroom patch west of morytania if you're into those
-the tool leprechaun might be a bitch to find, he might be hiding somewhere off screen on a little walk if you're unlucky, it's rare but happens often enough that you should care about it

Woah, farming sounds complicated. I've never actually done any farming, just guthixian butterflies and seedicide. Never done hunter either now that I think about it.

It's not too complicated, but he did ask for all the intricacies so I put as many as I could think of there. The best farming script tho would definitely be aquanites with full farmers and seedicide + herbicide, I hear it's to the tune of 120k/hr xp
include some other activities whilst it waits for crops to grow, however if you do plan on scripting this, make sure the activity script is also on par to the actual farming script or you could be banned without even meaning to while training the second skill

Something to do in between farming, maybe alching or agility.
Actually you note produce by using it on the leprechaun so that's why it's important :P
I think you can make a fair bit of profit from the shrooms whenever they're up.
The diseased herb thing is something that you will definitely run into when doing herb runs every 80 minutes, and thus something you need to worry about. I think every 20mins or so plants have the chance to be diseased, this gives you like 20 minutes to go cure the plant but it also resets the current 20min farm tick so instead of being dead, the herbs are diseased when you check them at 80mins. If you ignore them you'll have to dig them up and re-plant the next run which means you'd be out of commission for 2 runs rather than just one if you cure it or one because your herbs died.
