Which of the above do you recommend for someone to learn for the long run? With complexity of tasks, pros vs cons and ease of access.(not really wanting to switch eventually because of x reasons.)

What is "regular?" Could be software rendering mode or Direct-X mode.
For all intents and purposes, as far as the end user is concerned: (OpenGL == Direct-X) > Software

Well, I just script with colors and DirectX, partially because OpenGL seems to lag for me after about 30 minutes.

Oh, you're talking about OpenGL versus color as interaction methods, not as display modes for the client.
I don't think the OpenGL interception capability provided by ogLib is going anywhere anytime soon.
However, color is older, officially supported by SRL, and possibly more stable (I don't know the current state of OpenGL interception in regards to stability).
At this point, I doubt it matters too much. OpenGL interception is a higher-level interaction method, and can accomplish tasks easier than color could.
But if both Clarity and Obscurity fall into a coma tomorrow, I doubt ogLib could be carried on effectively. See what I mean?

Are you talking about ogLib versus SRL-6?
At the moment some people report FPS issues after using OGL interception. OGL, with the current state of the plugin, demands higher graphics card capabilities, or, in my case, unique, coincidental arrangements that happen to work fluidly while not being high tier. Hopefully the plugin can be improved to work with all hardware specs.
Color is still very capable and powerful, and can accomplish many complex tasks with the right effort and determination (Barrows, as an example). OGL will be significantly easier to use and script for complex combat situations and other scripts requiring a large amount of thinking and reacting quickly in real time.
It would simply be impractical to attempt color scripts of things like Dungeoneering, Vorago, KK, Araxxor, GWD, possibly consuming 1000s and 1000s of lines, where in OGL it could be far less than that. I find that when color scripting, I am bogged down trying to solve issues that could be fixed by OGL in one simple line. In OGL, I find that I am bogged down by issues that could be solved easily in color. Hence, the combination of both is optimal.
There's nothing wrong with learning both. Learning one will easily translate into learning the other. They both use Lape, after all :)
OGL isn't without faults by itself. Color and OGL together will provide the best scripting capability, which is why the next update I'm working on will provide full SRL-6 Compatibility.
TL;DR you can accomplish anything with either, but color may require a lot more effort and time. In color, model detection becomes an art form where you must adapt to the surrounding environment and craft the perfect filtering methods, while in OGL, it is simply one line of code.

Guess that'd explain why my utilities port is being ignored :p

Here is my view on it:
Besides the horrible lag that I also experience, both on an old laptop with a 130m gpu and on desktop with 7950 gpu, I still wish I could use it.
But for one, SRL-6 still has more functions, that's why I first used a srl-6 version the Mayor made that supported ogl interacting. That way I could use the backbone of my other scripts (antiban, logincheck, breaking system,..)
Just like clarity posted; ogl is great for interacting with models, where color takes a while to get working properly. This is mainly usefull when the surrounding of a NPC/loot is about the same color.
Then ogl will obviously be more accurate.
I would start with SRL-6 and use ogl model interacting once clarity adds the support for it. Because if you do lag, you will always be able to use colors.

I prefer OGL, both are very similar and it isn't difficult to transition from one to the other. In my opinion OGL is easier due to the fact that you can write the same script in half the lines and a lot less work. Honestly though, it comes down to being able to implement the includes in either OGL or SRL which are extremely useful.
You can't compare them.
OGL is far more powerful, far more reliable, and easier. It's just the same as comparing to reflection.

Cheers everyone! Since my current pc setup isn't my dream machine I'll most likely hit it off with SRL 6 first and depending how everything works, later moving onto OGlib.
Thanks again, getting started now! May this be the beginning of something great.

I am pretty sure you just compared them.

It all comes down to the lag. If OGL works fine on your computer then I would go with it, as it is simply a superior method. If OGL didn't have any of the major lag issues it would have become more 'official' back in 2012-13.
