Well, just set up a VM with W7 on it and RS launches up in safe mode, any idea how to get openGL working? Will appreciate the help, thanks

goto settings > Display > enable accelerate 3D Graphics

If you are using VMWare, installing VMWare Tools could also fix it.

"VMWare Guest Additions" is an extra package required for hardware acceleration.

As those have said above, with VMWare you need to install VMWare Tools, that's really it.
If you're using Oracle VM Box, I've had quite a bit of trouble getting DirectX or OpenGL working.
