Knowing if you're in combat, cutting a tree without your player even being visible?

Works on any application, not limited to smart or runescape. (Just windows 7+ (or maybe vista +)) :p

I will probs make a 'public' release when me and slacky release our OSR include.

Completely off topic but "sneak peak" always reminds me of that twitter bot "stealth mountain" haha

But great work! It looks amazing!

If this is limited to Vista+, does that mean it's using some form of WASAPI loopback? If so, won't this be affected by other applications running sound in the background? Looks interesting though!

Fantastic. I remember seeing a sound .dll posted a few years ago and hoped this would come in an updated form at some point. Looking forward to all the creative uses that will result from this kind of capability.

It just returns the peak of a PID in this case SMART. I don't read the sound stream or anything, i've had 4 + applications outputing sound while writing this and never had a problem, in fact I had music playing when i recorded the video on the OP.

But you are right it does use WASAPI.

Some more research it is sadly windows 7+ since I use IAudioSessionControl2 which is the only way that i know of to find the PID of the session, I think the rest would be vista compatible. (so upgrade!)

Oh I see! Yes, I believe it would have to be 7+, because you couldn't gain access to peaks for different processes back in Vista, which is a shame. But then again, I highly doubt people will be running older versions of windows.

Very little knowledge of *NIX, but is there any similar form of support for our non-windows kin?

I can't even imagine the other crazy ideas that will come of this.

Could read the PulseAudio Control (pactl) output.

A command like pactl list

Have you perhaps tried it on w10? :)
Seems to be a great addition though! Good job ;)

As crazy as it seems I never actually tested it in action until now, and here is the video.

I have a global var
Animating: Boolean;
in my script, which is constantly being updated every 100ms (and drawing the button) from another thread. :)

Nice job man, yet another way to detect animations!

That's freakin' fantastic. Reminds me of this, way back in the SRL-5 days. Was a really nice project but sadly never got much use.

Should make it compatible with PulseAudio so people running 'nixy systems can use it :D

^this. And to add to that, is it just waiting for silence or is it monitoring sound pattern of fighting?

It is just waiting for 850ms of silence.

A slight update I found out, for skilling (chopping, fishing) you can hear others sound, which renders this useless for them skills if others are around you. There has recently been a post on reddit about making this more like RS3 where you can only see hear yourself when you have area sounds off, so let's hope jagex take a look and implement it. :)

This is really interesting for me. As I'm still a complete noob to coding I am very intrigued as to the capabilities this could perhaps be used for. Anything analysing for sound could even be used for PvM situations in the future great work!
