I need opinions.
In prior years, 40 attack, high strength, and even higher range, while still maintaining a low combat level was the norm of most pures. However, the way combat is calculated now in EoC doesn't let you enjoy those high range and strength levels, without suffering and getting a much higher combat level. I would like people's opinions and experience in this aspect.
I am currently training 2 accounts, one account is 40 attack, 40 strength, 40 range, and 40 hitpoints, with a combat level of 36. The other I intend on just training attack, I am currently 36 attack, 22 hitpoints, and a combat level of 17. Technically, I will still be able to hit close if not the same as my first account, based purely on using melee, but I am half the combat level of my first account. I don't know what I should do in order to make the best legacy pure F2P PK'er. Any knowledge, opinions, advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't have much free time, but when I do, like dominating the wilderness.
–Does anyone have any experience in making rs3 legacy pures?

The only change from the old method to the new method is that range/mage are scaled to match atk/str. (range/mage*2 in calculation vs the previous 3/2)
its not /much/ different.
If you're doing melee, I wouldn't suggest training str very high, 99 str adds pretty pitiful damage to your max hits but it skyrockets your combat level. I remember seeing that 1str r2h hit like 280 and 99 str was like 310 or so, don't know if that's changed recently; however, from what I've heard it has not.

I have done a bit of pking, low level, 37 right now, on my 40/40/40 acount, only using a addy 2h, which seems to be all that people really do nowadays. I can hit 270s. It's basically come down to who can hit higher, when using lobbies, they only heal 100. It's easy to hit through what you're capable of healing. Just trying to figure out if training strength would have a great effect on how high I can hit..

That's what I was saying, that training strength probably would have little effect for you compared to the combat levels you'd gain. I think it's in such a spot that 50 atk, 1 or 50def, 99 hp would probably be the best (albeit impossible to maintain/attain in f2p) possible way to do things (of course omit defence if you want, but cheap 50def armor is a noticeable improvement over wearing nothing; however, it does raise your combat so there's that). Tiers have a much much larger effect than stats except for possibly accuracy where 99 attack gets you 1200~ accuracy when the best weapons (drygores/the other t90s) give you 2458
range was never higher than strength, strength was always maxed out to stay melee, looks like you got killed a lot back in the day

Not sure if you were spamming or trolling; but, back in the day f2p pures always had high strength and generally a ranged level much higher than their strength because the ranged didn't effect combat unless it was like 1.5x your strength (something like 80str 40atk meant 99 range wouldn't touch your cb). Also range was definitely far more effective than melee for dps (rapid op), the str was mainly for the 2h KO. Hence the popularity of range-2hing.
Also not even in the pure department, but the level 110~ range tanks with 99range,def, and hp were by far the strongest in their level bracket around the same time.
Melee was able to out-do range only above the range tank max (like 120+)
