For actual text editing? MS Word or my darkhorse pick of MS Excel. My workplace uses Excel for most of our documents, it actually does a better job of formatting than MS Word. The "text editing" part of Excel sucks a lot more though.

For code? I only work with Simba so I guess that's my preference. I use Notepad++ sometimes when I'm at computers without Simba though. I've also been known to open regular Notepad though if it's just a quick function or code-fixes for someone.

sublime text best out really

emacs & vim are alright

notepad++ sucks

atom would be the best by far if they didn't build it on node & chromium, the things performance is insanely bad for a simple text editor.. sometimes using multiple gb of ram and can't even open files bigger than 2MB lol
github needs to work on their project a LOT for it to take over the market

Most definitely Sublime Text 3 for html, etc. And Eclipse for Android/Java.

Depends, if I'm on Windows then Notepad++ and Eclipse for C/Java, if Linux then gedit (or even nano).

no auto complete at all for anything
written by someone from 4chan
not cross platform
and mainly there are editors that do every other language better, with autocomplete and better color and cross platform

I mostly use gedit/emacs on linux because I'm too lazy to learn vi/vim. On windows, I use Microsoft Word for documents, Eclipse for Java, and generally whatever IDE comes with for the language
