Cannot paste into Simba

I just recently installed Simba after almost two years away from it, wanting to get back into using it. I installed it to my new computer, only to find that I am unable to paste anything from outside the program into it. I can, however, copy code from within Simba and paste it. I have searched around the forum to find that a few people have had this same issue, but it has never been resolved. I have tried both ctrl-v and right clicking methods, and neither work. I have also tried pasting the same thing into notepad, with no problems. I have tried reinstalling as well.

Like I said, I have no problems copying code from the Simba window and pasting it back into Simba. It's text from any outside source that's giving me trouble. I know I can just re-type the code, and this normally wouldn't be much of a problem, except for the fact that I want to start working with DTM's. For this reason, pasting is pretty much a necessity.

Additional info: Out of curiosity, I opened an old version I had on a USB, and I could paste into it fine for awhile. Then it must have automatically updated something, because it no longer works.
im using Windows 8.1.

Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Users of Windows 8 and above have been having this problem globally, not just with Simba. I'm willing to bet there are other programs that can't access your machine's clipboard as well.

I don't know how to fix it, but a little Google-fu on your end might lead you to a solution as it's a pretty common problem.

I have 2 computers using windows 8.1, never experienced this issue.
Try sfc /scannow, or reformatting your OS?

If all else failed, you could simply paste to a .txt then rename it to .simba :p

Do you have Skype installed?

After a bit of messing around, I've found that having either Chrome or IE open is causing the problem. I'm guessing it's the case for other browsers as well. When I have a browser and Simba running at the same time, I can't paste into Simba; however when I close the browser, it immediately works again. I never would have thought these two programs would be in conflict. Anyways, thanks for the help :)

This problem has long existed in almost every Windows OS with the exception of XP. There's also the problem of a user not being able to capture the screen.. IIRC there was one user on here that had that problem and I had to debug for HOURS just to capture anything from their graphics card. Even without plugins, they still weren't able to capture a regular window with Simba's crosshairs. Everything was black. I don't remember who it was.

The problem with the clipboard usually stems from programs like Microsoft Office, Skype, SystemCleaners and Adobe Flash.

- Remove the Skype Plugin for Chrome and IE. The click to call and any other skype browser plugins.
- If you use any automatic system cleaners, make sure they don't clear the clipboard cache.
- If your physical memory is extremely low, this will stop clipboard and print-screen functions.

Lucky. Some of us aren't so fortunate though. A lot of things are windows only. Personally, I just stay away from the annoying products. For Chrome, I disabled flash and it uses HTML5 and WebM.

All in good moderation. No problems :D
