Project ideas

So I'm currently taking a few courses where the material is new to me. Whenever this happens I usually come up with a project that incorporates the course material. I'm having a little bit of trouble coming up with something that's useful or even interesting. For example, I made a small roguelike for my intro to programming class. These are the classes:

Programming 1: Basically C++
Web Application Dev.: Don't really know what this one is about tbh besides what the name implies.
Database 1: sql?

If anyone could throw a few ideas my way that incorporate some of the concepts presented in these classes I would appreciate it. It would be great if the project is useful and related to Simba.

Well with the database 1 and web application you could create a simba script that uses a database to run like what @DemiseScythe ; did, and create a website as a homepage for all your scripts (pretty sure demise did that too

For the c++ you could write color scripts using @Kasi;'s c++ simba lib (if it's operational or whatever)

You could do some thing like this but less half-done looking.

Imo, I would suggest you to move into android dev, there is so much support all over the internet and you can easily wade your way through.

Also, if you find an idea that can motivate you, which you like, you'd give in your best.

Can confirm this! Android development is very fun. And as Destinyxx said, you will find much support (stackoverflow, reddit, books, etc)!

I made a website for an assignment last week and it was probably the most boring 5 hours of my life. Definitely not for me.

Yeah, I looked into Android development a few days ago and it seems interesting, thanks for reminding me. Guess the next step is to start finding some guides.

I started with watching the Android development tutorials from the New Boston. A little outdated, but one of the best starting tutorials there are. Besides, I don't like to start with reading a book without basic knowledge. After you've watched that tutorial, I could recommend starting with "The Big Nerd Ranch Guide". A book with good examples/exercises.

I know everybody learns another way, this is just the way I learned ;)

EDIT:
Here for the New Boston

Do you, by any change, might be interested in haxe?
http://haxe.org/use-cases/

You could write an app that works on android, iPhone and html5 with it. It works great, especially with openFL. One piece of code to rule them all ;). Maybe you could write an script manager, where every people can easilly browse through our scripts(maybe with stats).
