Hello to all.. long time

The Prince of Randomness?

2015-01-06 21:37:11

Hey guys,

I've been away from this community for a long long time, I was around since the Kaitnieks time until SRL when I was really young and immature…! I logged in today simply to check in and say hello. This community meant a lot to me while I was growing up and I enjoyed reading the forums every day, Scar kicked off my interest in programming and computers and is part of the reason I am a sysadmin today, thanks all who helped me out.

What's the state of the community these days? Does SRL / SCAR still work on RS? Is there any RS3 development at all? I'll browse around and find out I guess!

I hope all the people I interacted with are happy and living great lives, you guys rule. Also apologies to those who I annoyed… Nostalgic cruising around here.

Cheers,
Lachlan

SCAR is on another board, we use Simba now. (Same premise, different program.)

SRL works on both RS3 and Oldschool runescape.

Welcome back!

Good to see another old timer pop in. SRL is now at revision #6 and is still being actively developed by the SRL devs. It will probably only die when RS dies.

Might even outlive RS if anyone finds a game more fun to use it for. Unfortunately I haven't seen one yet.

Hi!
Glad to see you're still around. After all your woodcutter was the inspiration that got me into scripting (and now in an medical image recognition project! FindObj(x, y, 'cancer tumour')).
It seems everything is still going as always. Less busy than in the '05/'06/'07 good times but SRL is far from dead yet.

Oh hey guys! It's been so long. I overheard someone in class mention RS and it reminded me of the forums so I figured I would stop by also.

I had to explain that RS helped me get into programming today, to my bosses boss. So that was fun, made me miss this place.

Ah, keeping tabs on the community to report to your masters? I see right through you Camo Developer (*cough* camouflage "developer" *cough*) - you're not doing a very good job ;)

You're right, I should go back into hiding for a few more years. :D

How have you been? I mean…
Figured I'd help with being upside down :)

I love seeing this stuff, the only reason I come back is to relive the memories. I'm studying Computer Science currently and I know there is no way I would be interested in it if it wasn't for SRL even if it was eight years ago! A couple of names here I recognise, good to see people feel the same way about this place :)

Hey :spot: SRL has also been the place that really sparkled my interest in programming. Probably wouldn't be studying Computer Science without this place.
I'm actually going to try to use color detection and OCR in real life: reading license plates.

I have a license plate checking app. Returns all available public data about the vehicle that the license plate belongs to.

So I am planning to build in the option to use the camera to scan a license plate. It should be pretty fast. But our license plates are only 6 digits so yeah.. typing might be faster. But fun expirement!

Haha that sounds fun. :D

I also had some color/image related work recently, it was detecting ball movement for a game.

Fun to see some old faces make these posts..Wish I had the time to still be involved in the community.

Cheers Prince, hope everything is treating you good in the land down under (well close, anyway :P)

Ha, must be the year for it? I'm a sys admin too. Probably because of this place/kaitnieks. Ahh good times. I really do miss this place. I spent so many hours on RS, Scripting and this forum when i was a bit younger.

Good to see you drop in. And to all the old faces in this Thread, it's nice to see you're still around.

Can I slightly grave dig to say hello too?

I always look back on the old RS cheating days with a lot of fondness. Certainly learned a lot, and nearly went into a software engineering career as a result.
ALL the nostalgia.
