I've been on a long hiatus from RS, but I recently secured a job for next semester so I'm going to have practically every evening free to do whatever. I am debating coming back to OSRS as part of my on and off cycle of playing RS and quitting RS. Recently I've felt the inner nostalgia-boner build up towards this game and was thinking of coming back to continue to work on a main, maybe a pure, and if I'm really feeling dedicated finish up whatever projects I had started on Simba that I can scavenge from the depths of my hard drive.

I just wanted to ask everyone here a couple questions:

1) It's been a REALLY long time since I've played, and I can't help but notice there has been SEVERAL updates done to the game that I have no knowledge of. I was planning on going through the patch notes AND the announcement forum's section and reading EVERYTHING to get myself up to speed with the current OSRS. Would that cover everything between when I stopped playing and now or is there anything missing?

2) How's OSRS looking right now? It looks like more players are playing than when I last quit. I'm hoping this is a good thing :p

3) HOWS THE BOTTING SCENE CURRENTLY LOOK (the question we've all been waiting for)? Do goldfarmers still run the market? Last I remember the goldfarming was pretty bad. I can't be a hypocrite as I've tried to goldfarm once, so I don't hate it, but definitely wouldn't mind if goldfarming was a bit harder to pull off successfully :p. And aside from goldfarming, how's botting in general? I left last because all my accounts were getting hit with bans. I was planning on botting for primarily exp to prevent myself from losing my mind. Has the ban rates associated with that changed?

If I do come back.. anyone want to add me :p after I level up my main I'd be up for any GWD or other group activities

bh craters gave 07 pking a lot more life + wildy npcs to farm on to increase activity there too.

1. Yes, a ton has changed since it was initially released, and the patch notes should cover everything. A quick look on the forums would inform you of current issues.

2. I don't keep track of the player count, but it's nothing of note at around 15-20k off peak - peak times

3. I'm not sure about goldfarming but the most that I know is that RSmalls still gave me my money within 5 minutes of purchase. On the XP side of things I recently got banned for botting combat ONLY IN BROWSER not in SMART using Hoodzfighter so they are up to something there.

Damn, so it sounds risky to even bot for short periods of just training. Guess I'll hold off for now and just keep an eye on ban rates and whatnot.

When I tried getting a few accounts to sustain bonds before I had no luck. My accounts were getting banned so fast and I was being smart with my hours played, scripts used, and locations used at. I'm now seeing so many bots running at the same spot for days recently…

What happened?!

Don't bot for long periods of time, usually 2-4 hours is what I do. Keep it as safe as possible. I've experimented accounts overnight botting and woke up to a perm, so don't do that. When botting mix up the activities that you are doing, a real player doesn't do the same thing continuously. They are extremely tight with their at the moment, so play it safe as possible. Also, bot some days but then play legit the next day. These techniques usually keep me off the radar. Take as many precautions as possible. As of now out of 6 accounts the only ban I had is 1 Bot Busting Moderate (2 Day), because of my safety.

Edit: Did you play all the accounts at the same time? Did you use VPN/Proxy, etc.? Were all your accounts played on 1 computer/IP? If they were, you could have been chain banned or your IP may be on the flagged list.

G.E is going to bring in a lot of people from RS3. Thinking we may now see the users online jump to 30k.

After that, Jagex would just need to remove the restrictions on FTP and RS3 will begin to die. Question is, do they want that? RS3 is their cash cow.

GE will also really help out F2P since it's impossible to buy something on there atm
