give or take that i have been gone for… about 2 to 3 years… Im just here to ask what happened to the prices of Iron and Coal?
What made Iron soar beyond 150gp? (the last price I remember iron ore was before going on hiatus)
And what made Coal drop/stay at 250gp all this time?
Did RS content get so difficult that most, if not all, of the things players can make are now worthless? Is there something that members can do with Iron that made it soar in price? Is Coal being pretty static show that smithing is pretty much not worth leveling now?
just… what happened?

Most bots got banned :p
Fewer bots meant the stuff that got botted commonly went up in price, and the results aren't used by as many/high alched by as many, because that was again - bots.

Well both got easier note drops from lots of monsters
but for me since iron is the cheapest/easiest superheat item for smith exp/magic exp
or even just normal smithing to bars. (high demand)
Smithing is worthless. The only thing you can "make" that's not completely useless past level 50 is the Tetsu armour from PoP (all other armour outside ports above at dragon or above is basically a monster/boss drop only); however, that is made of goods specific to PoP and has nothing to do with any ore. Honestly, the only thing anything rune is good for (aside from full rune to sell to f2ps and rune 2h for f2ps, both of which lose you a shit-ton of money making if you buy the bars) is alching and for people with tons of money to train smithing fast with. It makes me super sad to see a skill be this useless.
A lack of bots (of course comparitively, go SMART!) keeps the price of coal high, meanwhile I think iron ore/steel bars are still respectably high because steel bars can be made into cannonballs and there is probably some demand for those. Also I think steel ingots at the falador workshop thing are cheap-ish smithing training.

This. Most skills on RuneScape need a massive rework - they're useless atm.

Absolutely… the only things worth training nowadays on RS are the combat-related skills imo.

Yeah, farming somewhat. Woodcutting is nice with the Elder trees and such but apart from that theres nothing much that's vital for the game when it should be.
