Temp Banned using only browser bots (OSRS)

Hello everyone,

I just received a 2-Day temp ban on Old School listed as a bot-busting moderate offence. The date of the ban was Dec 2.

The very shocking thing about this is that I have never, NEVER used SMART to bot, only browser bots.

The script I was using at the time was Hoodzfighter color, training combat at the red spiders in the Varrock Sewers, and I was botting fairly heavily at over 16 hours per day.

I'm taking this as a very grave warning as I probably will also have my stats rolled back and some of my items taken from me, a devastating blow to a level 105+ main.

I probably won't bot again as my account is under suspicion from Jagex, and I'm not prepared to risk an account that I've spent a lot of time on (Even though it is 75% botted)

Possible Reasons for ban in the week leading up to it:

- Changed my attack style to shared on the whip leveling defence very quickly (going up in the hiscores too quickly)
- Mentioned "Bot" / "Botting" a lot in char when talking with other players (Saying I am not botting if they accuse me of botting)
- Same players who called me out for botting may have reported me, along with the new report abuse update the report could have been handled better and my account reviewed
- Posted troll like posts on the forums, complaining about splashing etc. which got attention from Jagex Mods, so they could have investigated my account
- More likely reason is not mixing up legit play with botting, and just botting as I've been fairly busy IRL

~

People need to take this as a grave warning to significantly improve their antiban on accounts they can't afford to lose. The fact that this was only in the browser as well is very worrying. Heed my warning and improve your antiban or suffer the consequences.

Can anyone who has had a similar experience tell me what happened to their stats/items when they got unbanned?

There's your problem.

I don't think they do stat roll backs or remove items on 2 day osrs bans.

Yeah, 16 hours a day is a little excessive.

This is also why every time I talk botting with any newcomer it comes with the disclaimer "Only bot on what you can afford to lose"

Did you mean bot ;)

It doesn't matter if you use smart or not, it's detectable.

I don't know what you're talking about :duh:. I literally made the title of my recent script "3Garret3's Merchant AIDS", misspelling my name and giving people aids instead of aid. This is not surprising.

OT: Yes, everything is detectable. How much, we don't know. 16 hour bot sessions, probably pretty detectable compared to 2 hour ones but who knows.

What NPC were you killing at the time? I think some places have higher ban rates than others.

People are too worried about SMART and IPs and all this other irrelavent stuff. If your script is detectable, it's detectable.

10+ bots, same IP, 24/7, all using SMART, no bans since 2013

Yeah, pretty much same situation for me at the moment with the stuff I run.
Also, doesn't "Bot Busting" mean a manual J Mod sweep like they do on livestream, so they actively paid special attention to your account?

I don't think so, on OSRS you either get a 2 day bot busting, or a perm macro ban

@OP; Thought Flights ban would of been a warning?

Okay, I guess the systems for RS3 and OSRS are pretty different then. But relative to RS3 bot "busting", the OSRS team seems far more dedicated than the RS3 equivalent.

Red spiders in the varrock dungeons, as I suppose it doesn't hurt to tell now that jagex knows I'm a botter

Yes, I saw flight's post about his account and stopped for a day to see if anyone else had a similar issue, and no-one did so I resumed.

I believe the reason you got banned is because you bot for too long. Mod Weath probably noticed that and manually banned you (this is his job :| ). I got banned on the exact same date for 2 days after botting agility straight from 60-80. (Browser only)

Hey Hoodz, first up, thanks for the script! It's helped me heaps and to be honest I would rather have a warning on my account than having put in 500+ hours of legit training.

I also in no way blame you for the ban.

Sorry to hear you got a temp for the agility, maybe it's something to do with rising too quickly in the hiscores, and then a Jmod or the botwatch system reviews it and issues a ban. I had gained 2 Strength levels, 2 hitpoint levels, 1 attack level and 5 defence levels in the day leading up to the ban and this possibly could have set off alarm bells in Jagex land.

the account i got banned on was just a pure bot account, so if it got permed it didnt really matter to me. still happy we only got a 2 day ban ;)

Yea, I got a 2-day ban too. I didn't bot as much though. Only around 5-6 hours a day for a week. Got banned on the 7th day, and I was P2p. P2p players are the only ones who receive a temp ban, F2p will always receive a perm ban if detected.
