Project Suggestion - Abyss Runecrafting Script

Ever since I came back again, lurking, I brainstormed what script I wanted to write. Starting December 14, I plan to initiate my own project for SIMBA, an Abyssal Runecrafting Script. The following reasons include…

Code-Wise
  • Learn walking features (SPS, DTMs,…)
  • Learn multiple object interactions (TPAs,…)
  • Item interactions (DTMs, bitmaps,…)
  • Interface interactions (dialogues, banking,…)
  • All of these listed provide challenge that I've set for myself as a programmer

Runescape Goals
  • Running Ironman, need to craft my own runes…
  • For other users benefits, the profit is insane*

*I do not know if this is entirely true, but pure essence is 17 gold! and Natures rune is 300! Even if you do not sell the Nature rune, high alch still provides profit based on the items used.

The reasons are clear. The scope of this project is to develop a program that can craft Nature runes in the Abyss. I limit it to just Nature runes for now and will plan to further expand it.

Risks and Obstacles
1) Navigating the abyss.
i) Its random where you get located in the abyss. May use SPS to get location in the grid and figure out how to navigate from there?
ii) …more to come i bet

Solutions:
Camel - Use flood fill TPA, find midpoints of inner and outter TPA, calculate angle to determine where player is radially. Navigate from there.
Source Material: Wanted's Abyss Runecrafting Script

Flight - Use SPS to determine location of player in abyss. Calculate shortest path.
Source Material: https://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=91525

I posted this to commit to my project, by proposing to the community. Its not a huge top secret project (plenty of Abyss scripts outside of SRL and 1 by IceFire) so i have no fear in sharing this amongst you guys.

Please feel free to post suggestions on how to tackle this project, ill update the struggles section whenever i can as i am still brainstorming this all out.

Cheers!,

Edit History:
11/26 - Threat started
- found IceFire's script! (Wanted now? Also banned? :() https://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48509 Will use for reference, very solid ideas from this.
- Requested Mat for old Blood Abyss Crafter.

I'm also working on an abyss script.

My tips for navigating. (as i've finished that part)

I don't use SPS. What I do to navigate the abyss is a lot of angles and trigonometry crap. I get the colors of the abyss ground on the minimap. Split the TPA by flood filling (so you have the outer ring and the inner ring). Then I get the angle between the two mid points of the inner and outer ring and then navigate it from there.

That's the hardest part of the script in my opinion… So its an idea. If you get something else to work I'd be really interested to see it.

Before i had NO clue what any of that meant. Now I actually understand what you are saying.

Each obstacle in the outer edge of the abyss are located at an angle right? I know the obstacles change each time, but their locations are all the same. Such that all the obstacles are aligned around the outer circle at a distributed angle.

Now the part that confuses me is the TPA stuff and flood filling :S Im typing this on the top of my head, but once you flood fill by searching the color for the floor (easy), you get ATPAs (cause you got one big box for the inner circle and the bigger box of the outercircle). You split the ATPA into 2, to get 2 TPAs (inner and outer). acquire 2 midpoints for both TPAs and acquire an angle.

Hm… damn! Thats really clever. Correct me if im wrong (im probably REALLY wrong :S).

Alright so this is from IceFire's debug. Im assuming those lines represents TPAs.

Yeah that pretty much sums it up.
Also, if you go for this method, don't make the same mistake I did. Simba has a built in flood fill split. So don't waste your time making your own.

Yeah, this is a good way of doing it. I stopped using SPS early on in my scripting days, always had problems with it. Often it is easier and better to use situation-specific navigation.

I like clarity his idea, i use the same system for my rooftop script.

Tip: check out blindwalking, might be useful here.

Reading through Wanted's Abyss Script, I feel like i can just simply rewrite it and make it compatible to Simba. Problem is I can release it to SRL members as I took this from Wanted. I think that's how ill approach this, as I havent coded for 2 years AND its a pretty friggin big project which seems why no one wanted to do it. I think revising Wanted's script will teach me A LOT tho because of how much there is to learn from it.

Anyways thanks guys for your suggestions. If i ever get Wanted's script to work, you'll be the first to know :p

This for OSR or RS3? @Claymore;

For RS3. IT will be purely color based, SRL6, etc..
