Is anyone else watching this on Twitch? It might be helpful when designing scripts for OSRS at least.
If you aren't watching it Mod Ronan along with someone else are going around OSRS manually banning bots. He is picking them out by how they look. Which is something we've mentioned about not looking like a generic bot, but its quite interesting watching.
And it anyone has a script running for OSRS, I would recommend turning it off right now… hahaha
Also, if anyone got banned from this they should speak up so we can learn from it.

I have been watching. It is pretty much look in obvious bot spots for obvious bots. Then type their name into something and it says if they are a bot or not.
Places they have looked:
east green dragons
lumb bank gold rwt
lumb bank flax spinning
red chin hunter
pc bank
duel arena stakers
merch bots w1
nmz hosts
Similar to what Rogie did a few years ago at Frost Dragons with a Jmod.
Also, detecting player inventory/bank?
Lol wow

At least for OSRS or both in general work hard on not looking like a regular bot. And all scripts should watch for a mod talking in the chat and if that happens they should say something to respond or log out immediately. I would really like to know what the other mod was doing to verify that they were a bot… hmmmmm….. That would help us out extremely haha

Just got a Bot Busting Moderate, expires in 2 days, not been near these areas though, and everytime I have ran a script, it's been for 2-3 hours and I have it on a separate monitor whilst i'm still using a computer, so I haven't been "found out" by other players / mods, as I interact with them! Ha
Yeah I just watched the saved stream and it is quite obvious that Jagex can detect any/all botting clients as previously thought. The fact that Ronan would just ask Wealth if the person was botting and be able to almost instantly say yes/no makes it clear. So if they wanted to ban anyone who used a botting client they easily could, just choose not too.
It would be interesting if the "botwatch" was just a random banning of accounts detected using a botting client.

Seems like he just walks around with his character so logging out when a J-Mod is near seems like an essential.
Also, bot at obscure places and don't look like a but and have a fancy name is what we learn from this.

I wondered that too. Will they be able to see SMART?

If they choose to look they can actually find quite a lot.

That's what i thought immediately. It pretty much confirms the fact that Jagex is purposely not banning bots.
After all, there must have been a reason why they removed randoms.

Still though it's weird. Why I'm I not getting bans with Simba and are people using powerbot getting banned so mutch?

Powerbot is a larger target for jagex

I would guess Powerbot has a lot more gold sellers using it too. Doesn't help that they have everyone using the same scripts and what not.

Yea but still while using a public script I got a few bans.
Using one of my first scripts ( bad and no antiban ) I got a few bans
Using my own (good) private script for a month no bans so far.
Things above are RS3

Well when some powerbot scripts are getting 10k+ runs per day… It's kinda different :p

Well yea altough it's easy to detect Smart I don't think they use it to auto-ban.
They're probably doing it on stream to make people afraid so they won't bot, look at what's happening here ;).

I remember reading a post about an analysis on SMART detectability. SMART is detectable, if Jagex looked for it. There is RS-BOT, Tribot, and EpicBot, large names in the botting world. I have not had a ban yet [on accounts I like] (crossing fingers), while running low resource VM's with different IP's using VPN's and running through the official RS client.

Not just SMART being detectable, Simba too.

Probably botwatch monitors bot behavior like getting stuck in
an infinite loop. etc.
