I recently saw the first person mode in Grand Theft Auto V and it's only exclusive to PS4, Xbone, and PC. This convinced me even more to get a PS4, along with Advanced Warfare that just came out. I also want to play Destiny, and all the future games that will come out xD

However, a PS4 is so expensive, and I'm not sure I want to get a Xbox One. Do you guys think its worth getting a PS4? Will it be on sale on Black Friday/Cyber Monday, or should I just stick to my PC? :C

I don't know that much about games beyond the PS2 but I know this logic: game consoles will constantly be replaced and new games will require you to keep purchasing the newest console, but computers, if not already meeting requirements, can simply be upgraded.

The problem is most of my friends play consoles and I mainly want to play with my friends D:

SAME thing happened to me lol! saw the GTA V first person and instantly wanted to buy ps4, and then saw the new COD lol!

If you decide on a console, I'd go with the Xbox one. I even heard they have a $50 off deal atm. Halo 5 is coming out as well! Much better online gaming than the PS4.

but you have to pay $$ to play multiplayer! so those 50$ you waste them in a year of multiplayer (when you can use ps4 free for ever)

You need to pay for online play with the PS4 as well.

Lol.. I'd never buy the PS4 or XBox knowing that you'd have to pay (a subscription) to use your own internet, which you already pay for, to play online..

They literally pulled a microsoft by making you "subscribe" to play online (not previously required with the PS3). It's not a one time payment. It's a "subscription" and auto-renews unless cancelled or "turned-off" (which should have been the default in the first place). There's not many benefits to it. You're mostly paying for Twitch and a couple minor things.. Most users wouldn't pay if it weren't for online game-play. This is why they bundled online game-play with "features" instead of leaving it how the PS3 was (free online game-play, pay for extra features optionally)*.


Don't waste your Christmas money? I don't know.. I'm not going to tell you what to do or whether it's worth it. Just saying what I would or wouldn't do myself. Also informing you since you didn't seem to know about the online payment. I'm old.. I still own a PS2.


*Notes*
1. If you forget to put funds in your account, and you get charged, you will go into the negatives and without over-draft protection, you're going to pay a HEAVY (imo) fee to your bank.. Friend went negative by $1.03c and ended up paying $45 over-draft fee + the subscription price. LOL.


2. The PS4 is a very nice piece of machinery.. I'd gladly play yours if you want. ;]

If all of your friends have a console and you really want to play with them, then get a console. Otherwise, stick with PC which is superior in literally every way, lol.

Honestly the Xbox one is better for the online experience, while the PS4 has better specifications than the Xbox One. Either or, they really do not matter.

I decided to get the PS4 :D Already got 3 games (AW, Destiny and Shadow of Mordor), it was buy two get one free at Target and I had to take advantage of that deal
I plan to get the GTA V PS4 Bundle with The Last of Us Remastered on Black Friday :)

I still have a working PS2 and N64. Sometimes my PS3 freezes while playing BFBC though, not sure why.

Probably stick to the PC, although maybe the XBox one could be worth it if many of your friends have it too as I heard it's still going pretty strong.

I think that PC games will continue to surpass consoles as time goes on because of the simple fact that everyone has and can upgrade their PCs to play newer generation games; however, only a few (comparitively) own consoles and you need to buy a new one every few years to play the hottest new games.

If I got the PS4 it'd probably be for the blu-ray player and other stuff that is built in to it :P

Personally i keep it with PS3/PC, i'll wait untill next year till price drops.

GTA V is much better in third person tbh, the first person controls are pretty crappy, looking around isn't as smooth as it is in a FPS and when driving the steering is very erratic. I wasn't a fan of it at all, although riding bikes up mountains and then down them is fun in first person :P

The price makes it not worth it to me, I'd rather wait for the price to drop than go out now and spend all the cash on a new gaming system.

Honestly? Probably not, maybe if it went on sale, sure. But there are not enough games out right now for it to be worth it.

It's worth it compared to xbox imo. When you pay for PS+, everyone account on the play station gets PSN access.

I'm a fan of my xbox one really, I don't get where all the hate comes from. If they tad up the invite system it would be perfect.

Agreed. Bought an Xbox One the other day and don't regret it one bit. I think games like Halo and Forza make it worth the little bit extra over the PS4.

I was disappointed with my PS3 when streaming videos to it. It has some garbage DRM.

Get an xbox one :3 They're better.

As of right now, Ps4 is definitely superior to Xbox One.

PS4 all the way, has a lot of perks over XB1. It's very slick and has a lot of exclusives, and PS+ is not just per PSN account, rather than the XB1.

i am just sicking with the ps 3 :P

The same hacker group who hit xbox on 2014 christmas & took it down for 2-3 days or whatever.. hit steam on new years
it took 1 steam server down for <15 minutes

you pay for xbox server access
you do not pay for steam.

ps3 is better atm IMO. PS4 is alright but it's always wanting to update and there's not many games out that interest me. Not right now anyways. I'd just stick with ps3 for now.

True but I still use my wii when people come over. Its a more social experience. Still, for non-casual gaming, I agree.

PS4 is definitely not worth the money as you can get a glorious PC that performs better than the next gen consoles for less than they cost, if you need further persuasion visit the guide section on pcmasterrace

I'm standing with this guy… Personally, I don't think you should buy it until there are significant PS4 EXCLUSIVE titles. The PS3 turned out to have many great exclusives so I don't regret getting it, but the PS4 still may flop. Then again, if playing with friends is that important to you, go for it.

honestly I'm not done buying games for my 360 and currently the games for newest gen consoles aren't all that great. I just got far cry 4 for my xbox 360 and I cannot complain because its a current game… at best I'll wait a few years until the new gen consoles become really cheap on sites like kijiji/craigslist

I love far Cry 4, but I didn't like the fact that you could beat the game in 15 mins, and all situations that you choose tend to suck, but I was able to pick up a ps4 for 280 new.

My buddy living in my hometown was telling me that Targets in the area of where I lived mislabeled 50% off clearance items on a lot of new gen consoles like a madden 2015 xbox 1 bundle for $200, playstation 4's, etc. My buddy got the super smash bros 3ds for $100. If only I was back there, I would've been all over that.

Was that target going out of business too?

Don't think so. Tis in a pretty populated area and it saw a lot of business when I was down there. But is that a thing though, are some Targets going out of business?

Even though i quit gaming i still follow up gaming news from time to time, in terms of consoles it really depends on who you want to play it with - but if it was for you to find good titles and pay the designers for their hard work i'd say PS4 - its more user friendly and less hectic than an xbox…

On a personal note i found most games boring over the past few years, many 'over hyped' games just sucked.. Games like Watch dogs, Far cry 1,2 &3 (Didn't play 4, its exactly like all other far-crys), some COD games had great storyline but the multiplayer on cod is boring.. + many games were released way too early and just broke down instantly with bugs and crashes.. SO gaming has seen this horrible year of 2014..

The way i see it - when i was gaming i could at any minute load up The last of Us, God of war 1&2&3, Commander keen 4, Doom 1, Quake 1&3, Age of Empires 2, Deus ex 1, Diablo 1, Swat 3/4, prototype 1, gears of war 1, Hitman blood money, halo 1 (only good halo game in my opinion) and just play them and they don't crash.. and actually have fun.. Those game are timeless.. Now days we see lots of new games that look awesome, feel great but lack story line, depth and leave you bored..

Sure i had fun playing the last Tomb raider game, but would i have ever replayed it? no, it has no replay value.. A game like Doom or Quake or dangerous Dave has massive replay value.. Gears of war is like that too, Deus Ex human revolution.. I am not saying all new games suck (Notice most of these games aren't new.. I still cant wrap my mind over the fact its 2015 and not 2009 anymore.. 10 years ago was 2005 lol) but they just lack the factor that permits replay value.

Games need to be fun and not just addictive or money grab tools for micro-transactions and DLC.. OH i dont know why people like mass effect i think it sucks..


Imo its not worth it to buy a ps4 just to play 1 game, you cant even pirate download games on it or play burned copyrighted cd's.. Whats the point of spending 60$ on each game and then 40$ for disc-locked content?… Play stuff like Quake live, Nquake, ZanderDoom, Brutal Doom.. You'll have more fun playing that than GTA>.<.

Personally i found most games i've played in the past few years dull and boring, i found myself revisiting and playing old games that are still solid and are pretty much timeless, you play Call of duty and beat it.. Whats next? run around the multiplayer and die and respawn?

All Target in Canada is liquidating, I assume that's what they meant.

i love my ps4 and think it was worth every penny.

I prefer pc over ps4.
Games seem cheaper, more versatile, can add joystick/controller if you want, steam summer/winter sales.
An equally metformine pc can be created for about the same money aswell (cant find that article atm though)

both pc and ps4, but screw xbox one. just get an old 360 and play halo 2/3.

PC is so nice though. If you play a lot of games then just playing pc will probably save you money in the long run.

With that money you could build a good pc for gta 5

I would always choose PC over any console but if you enjoy the Playstation, then I would suggest you to buy it.

Like Kopa said, PC is always really good but……. PS4 is honestly one of the best console's i've ever bought. Despite having to pay for PSN now, as a mandatory requirement to do anything online, the system is really really good. Graphics are amazing, when I would play assassins creed on my TV it looked like I was literally sitting right there. Shit was amazing I gotta tell you man… Quality is cool, tons of freaking extras that are included into the system itself. Definitely worth it my friend.

However like many have said, the consoles are really starting to get bogged down with nonsense… Much safer (albeit more expensive) to get a PC.

If you like couch co-op then 110% worth the money..
