SRL Archive - Banned from RS

Well, it finally happened...

My main account has now been banned. I was using ashamans agility script. I believe i will be quitting the game now due to the amount of time and effort it took to get that account to where it was. Also there was quite a bit of wealth on that account which really makes me sad to see it go.

I put in an appeal saying someone else was using the account but i dont think that will do any good.

See you guys later.

I had about a 2030 skill totaller and lost about 500mil. What really sucks is i started legit playing last night as well and spent a long ass time dungeoneering. And all of that was for nothing.

Jeez. I only lost 1800+ total / 300M. My account was a 10yr vet, all holiday items, veteran classic access, the works.

We're brothers in ban now.

Why would you bot on an account with 300m. That is like dangling a 100 dollar bill over an open flame…

Personally I think it's a crock of crap, Jagex 100% refuses to review macroing appeals any longer. I haven't seen proof of his ability to unban a RS account for some time now.

I hear that if you are a popular player with a youtube channel and or you know a few jmods then you can get it unbanned. I, ofcourse, have none of those connections.

So if he does actually get accounts unbanned. I believe he does it through connections to people who work at the company.

It's a risk, but what's botting without a risk :P

I'm only using private scripts with a custom anti-ban to try to replicate my in-game actions as close as possible, not botting for long session and taking normal human breaks

Yes i was using smart. And the scripts antiban was whatever set that ashaman88 uses. It was his apeatoll agility bot.

How do you set it up without using smart? I have tried setting it up in the game client window using the selection tool from simba. But it just doesnt read the window.

What he was doing required it (basically higher risk higher reward) & he hadn't been banned till then so it wasn't exactly "an open flame". In hindsight that was obviously the wrong decision, however if I was in his position at the same time I would've definitely done the same thing (had my goals on rs been the same as his).

From: o0Matthius0o
unban service? how does he do that?

That person sells you the service of his time to "try to help you". He gives no guarantees (I've read some of his disputes on pb). That doesn't however mean that he's completely useless, what he does is simply send a well written and refined message to whoever receives it on behalf of the game company and tries to plead your case. For RS these days that is a waste of time, effort, & moneey. He does seem to have success on other games, where the game devs are [for lack of a better word] naive.
tl;dr it's not exactly a "crock of crap" however regarding RS specifically it pretty much is :p

3rd party client ban strikes again. Why not build another account and bot up to what you had before? It will take some time but the sooner you start the sooner you'l reach that goal.

You're saying that he wouldn't have been banned if he was targeting the official client instead of using SMART? I really doubt that was the determining factor…

idk about that - this was from the past week (broke b/c of update). I've been running multiple accounts various scripts past several months - all on smart w/o an issue.

Also how long were you botting? And you are 100% you haven't used any other botting scripts or programs the past 4 months? Did the script ever get stuck or anything? Hopefully you didn't just leave the default settings in there (breaks and what-not)

I think a good point to bring up is that when people are targeting the official client (with smart anyways) they're only playing 1 account with that machine (be it vps, vm, etc). Thus 1 cache per active bot (plus potentially other factors, ips, unique hardware, etc that we don't/unsure about jagex using to link/flag accounts).
So while there might be (I'm positive there would be) a lower ban rate via targeting the official client, that however doesn't mean that it being an official client or not is actually the main reason behind that statistic.

@Flight what are your thoughts about that ^?

Clarity

2014-11-03 14:21:46

All the recent anecdotal evidence points to SMART (and botting in general) being detected upon extended investigation, which is triggered by a number of things, such as automatic Botwatch flagging, player reports, inhuman playing times, and patterns of behavior across players (1000 people using a script behaving the exact same way ingame).

Advanced script antiban prevents this extended investigation from happening as it fools the "flagging" aspect. That's why people running good antiban scripts on SMART have no issues and no bans. Player reports can be minimized by doing less cliche botting activities, and inhuman playing times is totally up to the user. Using scripts that everyone else uses is also up to the user.

From my upcoming paper proposal on implementing biometrics into Simba and SRL-6:

I then go on to say how this betrayal overtime is likely compounded when hundreds of players are doing the exact same thing.
No matter what shapes and such we use, it all eventually sums into a detectable result if everyone is using a script with the same antiban.

The presence of SMART is just an added factor. The overall goal of biometrics (and the other software/hardware spoofing recommendations I make) is to make us totally safe regardless of whether our accounts receive the extended investigation.

It's time for us to change our playbook.

Thats true. But the amount of questing i did was ridiculous. And most of the bots here do not work for me. They will run less than an hour most of the time. And writing a bot for everything seems a bit much for me at the moment.

When i botted back in the day i had a laptop that the scripts seem to run well on. But i dont have that one anymore. I have an amazing custom built pc. But for some reasons scripts dont seem to run on it as well. I have discussed this with clarity and i cannot come up with a solution.

I have been using the ashaman's ape atoll course a lot and I think the reason for your ban could be from the random challenge they have added. At least I think it is new as i just noticed it for the first time a few days ago. A random challenge screen will pop up challenging you to do a certain amount of laps and you have to click accept. I have seen it happen a couple times now and the script will just get stuck on the screen and move the camera and mouse around.

When I see a ban here on SRL I always look for the same factors, starting with the most obvious known reasons of being banned, such as the user recently using a java-based bot. I also compare the bans in RS3 and OSRS as they're generally the same type of ban (macroing major). I can only go off of what I read as well as my own personal experience. I've had an account permanently banned (in OSRS) who was running a private color-only script via SMART. I simply believe the account was reported in-game which led the detection system to check my game client.

From what I've read here and on Mopar's forums it is extremely easy for Jagex to know if we're playing on the official client or not. And I believe they've recently started doing this, targeting players who're suspected of botting, which makes sense to me to limit the number of accounts they ban for this. Could you imagine if every player who's used a 3rd party client was banned at the same time? That's a huge number of players.

My advice would be to transfer some/all the wealth to another account with a great password and security. Even if you got a ban there would still be gp left to easily make a recovery, although a slow one there would be no need to spend time making gp. Perhaps I should not ask and demand instead, don't lose your main. Bans aren't intended they just happen and even an expert like yourself is bound to make a human mistake at some point, maybe a detectable mistake too.

Do you use the smart client or the real rs3 client?

I don't need GP to make a recovery, just ask @NKN; ;).

I've had a good run with macroing, if they can find me and detect me as a bot then job well done, I deserve the ban.

I use the Official RS3 client on a VM but that's about to change soon with some new information that was 'released'

I am still not sold on that one. I would have to do tests to be 100% certain. But I'm pretty sure TeamViewer and similar programs use SendInput. Even some mouse & keyboard drivers use SendInput. So yeah, you can use this to detect if the event was injected, but you can't base a ban off that.

Anyway, there are ways to get around that SendInput problem, and it's definitely easier than fixing many of the other things he listed.

What? Mouse and keyboard drivers CANNOT use SendInput because it is a userland function and drivers are kernel level.. They must use only what is defined in Ntoskrnl.h and other kernel headers from the Windows driver development kit (WDDK) or else send a signal to a service to do it for them.

Other than that, you are right.

P.S. SendInput uses the keyboard and mouse driver so if your driver invoked it (if you could have), you'd have an infinite loop between calls (or a kernel panic). Your driver calls SendInput which invokes the functions in your driver which invokes SendInput and so on.. There's no reason a keyboard or mouse driver would ever use SendInput.

Good to know. I wasn't aware of that. I just remember playing around with this stuff once upon a time and my keystrokes were being shown as injected. Not certain why.
