Hi!

So, I came across Simba/SRL after 2 max mains permabanned using several other clients. One was legit, gold farmed.

I definitely do not want this one banned, as i've only put a dent in time played comparison.

Searching the site and knowing what some Developers are capable of, id figure id see if theyd be able to bring an old topic back!

An AUTO RESPONDER!

Or have it play a sound!

Any questions, concerns, and/or flames, post below.
Pretty self explanatory.

TY!

While I think this is a cool idea and probably worth looking into, I don't think it's going to do much in the way of ban prevention, which seems to be the basis for your idea. Jagex relies very little on player reports anymore. I'm sure @The Mayor has been reported more times than could be counted, and he is in no danger of being banned.

Jagex relies almost solely on Botwatch for their banning duties, and as much as I hate to say it, it is REALLY good at what it does. So far SRL is still mostly under the radar, but if they decided to seriously point Botwatch in our direction we could see some real issues.

You best bet for avoiding bans is to stay here, write good solid scripts, and DEFINITELY stay away from using injection bots.

As for the OP, it would definitely be a cool feature to have and would be really fun to be able to go back and read the conversations my bot had with unsuspecting players. (Not unlike RiD's autoresponder system, which is hilarious sometimes).

Ive always wondered, what's really the point of an auto responder?

Usually the intention is to either blend in with normal players, or to try to make the account not fit the 'bot profile' as much. They cater to 2 different theories on bot detection. The first, blending in with players, is intended to not appear a bot to other players so that they don't report you. The second, trying to not fit the bot profile, is intended to appear more humanlike by appearing less botlike. This is assuming that botlike = not talking ever.

It's important to remember that both of those reasons are based on theories which may or may not be accurate.

Another point is that bad auto response will quickly out you as a bot to players, but it may still throw of an automated attempt at bot profiling.

I would imagine an auto-responder would be a very laborious task. Because most of what you'll be asked is limited to the world of runescape, you can't simply query an existing chat-bot to get a decent response. I would imagine it would be a lot of hardcoded if (some string found) then (choose from array of viable responses)
but there's a million things that could be asked, and just as many ways to ask each one which complicates things further.

It doesn't sound fun :P

Wow, thanks for all the replys!

Makes sense.

I once made my whole army chat together in the clan chat. It was pretty cool. They would talk about school, runescape, and about girls ;)

Is there any chance of you simplifying it as an include for scripts? I can see that the general consensus seems to be that it wouldn't be worth the time, but surely every bit of anti-ban counts.

Anything that can maybe detect pixelshift in the chatbox.

Turning off everything but public chat, so if another players message appears, it will play a sound.

Came back to this, only in the other room, which is never good. Lol.

Just curious.

Thanks again, in advance.

hmm, i dont know but this will be hard to make… you can start by saying hi every 3 minutes someone is talking in your range… but you can't actually make matching sentences i think

Making it play a sound would be nice… but what happens if you have a script that walks to a bank or GE? you'll get spammed :D
