Item DTM Generator
Version 1.4

Supports RS3 and OSRS

This extension allows you to create and view DTMs simply by inputting item names into a textbox.
It also downloads the used image files to your computer for later offline use.

Installation

  1. Download the extension.
  2. Paste it into C:\Simba\Extensions\
  3. Open Simba and go to View -> Extensions.
  4. Enable the generateDTM.sex extension.
  5. The "Item DTM Generator" will appear on the menu bar.
  6. Enter the item into the first text box, make sure this is exactly as it appears here: http://www.tip.it/runescape/items or on RS Wiki. If using Tip.It, you can search by ID instead of name if you prefer.
  7. Select the items database to use. Each has its strengths and weaknesses, if you experience errors with one, try the other.
  8. Specify how many points you would like your DTM to have.
  9. Select how you want the points to be distributed on the item.
  10. Fill out the desired tolerance settings for the DTM points.
  11. Choose whether you want extended debug or not.
  12. Select a function output: options include string, or item related functions such as TRSBankscreen.getPackCountDTM();
  13. Generate!
Interface

Looks nice!

Here's my first test:

== DTM Generator == Search Term: Logs
== DTM Generator == Search Address: http://www.tip.it/runescape/items?keywords=Logs
== DTM Generator == Item Hyphen: logs
== DTM Generator == Item ID: 155-achey-tree
== DTM Generator == Image Type:
== DTM Generator == Image Path:
== DTM Generator == Initializing bitmap.
== DTM Generator == Attempting to load image to bitmap.
== DTM Generator == Image load error!
== DTM Generator == Error generating DTM!

Not sure why it says achey-tree.

EDIT: I checked tipit, for some reason it ranks alphabetically…

Also loading as you can see the image didn't seem to download.

EDIT 2: I tried "Fire rune", "Rune scimitar", and "Christmas cracker".

They were all found in the search, but Chistmas cracker was the only one to download and generate a DTM.

Guess I have to add in some exceptions for weird searches like that. Try out other items for now?

Interesting tho I still prefer to create my own the old way but thats just me :)

only positive of the old way is being able to test your dtm against the the current eviroment for conflicts.
Good work nonetheless.

I wanted to get out the basic version ASAP after working on it for awhile last night, but that's definitely a good point. Right now, in addition to fixing the problems pointed out by @BMWxi, I'm looking to add in a checkAgainst option of sorts. I imagine things like potions will cause issues since the vials are all the same and Potion(1) and Potion(2) would probably be the exact same DTM, as the midpoint is above the liquid color in both those cases.

Edit: fixed Rune scimitar and similar cases

Christmas Cracker DTM seems fine, but it fails to download the image for Dragon Scimitar and "Dragon Scimitar"

The URLs generated are http://www.tip.it/runescape/items?keywords=dragon+scimitar and http://www.tip.it/runescape/items?keywords="dragon+scimitar", the first URL leads to three different items; corrupt, normal and offhand dragon scimitar. The second URL leads to no items at all, because tip.it doesn't support quotation marks for some reason :p

You'll need to perform a second search on the generated url before setting itemID values and such, to make sure you've got the right item.

When there's only one item in the list (such as with Christmas Cracker, it seems to perform just fine :)

Nice work!

Unfortunately Tip.It doesn't offer PNG files for every item image (they do for about 75%) so I'm working on either a multi-database retrieval or some other way of ensuring a totally accurate DTM result. This extension will load GIF images for now but the DTM will be slightly flawed.

Stay tuned for an update regarding that ^

Is it possible to offer a search function by ItemID, to help reduce possible similarly named item confusions?

Currently the function that gets the ID from the item string will use the exact string (except not case sensitive) and if it is invalid it will return -1.

So if they user inputs the correct string it will return the correct ID. In the time it would take the user to look up the proper ID they might as well look up the correct string instead.

I'm sure it would be possible to have it accept ID or Item name, but there's less of an advantage.

Yeah, I will add in the ID lookup option as it is easily done, but for the checking against an image, that's really what the DTM Editor is for (takes five seconds to input the string and figure out if it's good or not). I would basically be making a more basic/worse copy of Nielsie's work.

So far the DTMs I have seen created are pretty flawless.

Thanks guys :)

Massive update! Finally calling this 1.0, as it is now as fully functional as intended.

New GUI:

CHANGELOG
-Full visual debugging for generated DTMs.
-Customize between random point distribution and a distribution favoring the bottom half of the item (to avoid the yellow inventory and bank count numbers).
-Numerous failsafes to prevent crashing Simba.
-Improved the make DTM calculations to suit the new customization options.
-Generates DTMs usable both in the bankscreen and the inventory.
-Detects faulty bitmap reading and blocks out resulting color messes, although I could not check into every item image that exists.
-Automatically regulates user input to prevent user-caused issues.
-Automatically downloads and installs extension assets to your computer if they aren't present.

Let me know if there's something I should add or fix!

The world of OGL scripting meets the world of color, hehe. I like it. Currently it is averaging 100-300ms to complete the whole generate operation depending on internet connection if it has to download the image.

Occasionally the bitmap is read from the saved image very poorly (somewhat out of my control, I believe?) but this doesn't seem to affect DTM creation that much.

From: CynicRus

Tried this originally, sadly all those images are .gif and with colors very different from ingame colors :( Although if they are consistently wrong in the same ways one could account for this and edit the bitmap to the correct ingame match, perhaps?

The point of the low distribution is to avoid conflicts with yellow item stack numbers in the bank or inventory. If you choose an even distribution, the DTM may be inaccurate if the item has a number overtop.

There're tens of possibilities!!!

Very nice work Clarity. But do the DTMs it generate work while the item is highlighted inside the backpack? I'll give it a test. Since the highlighting of an item turns the black outline white, it can mess with a DTM using outlines as points.

We always use the black outline for DTMs for a number of convenience, consistency, and standardization reasons. Why do you need white outline DTMs? We have SRL-6 include functions for detecting those already :)

Clarity, an SRL-6 Function to detect DTM's that are activated?

I ran into the issue with a script I was working on, where the items get activated. If something happens, and it required a reloop, if that same item is still activated, the DTM will fail. Since it cannot tell that the item exists in the backpack, only that SOMETHING is currently selected.

I've had to take to not using the black outlines in that instance, which albeit is rare, but still became a bit of an issue.

Was just curious if it handled it using the outlines, I can always make the rare DTM required for a situation like I mentioned about.

Program looks great though, thanks :D

I'll see what I can do when I get back to SRL!

We always use the black outline for DTMs for a number of convenience, consistency, and standardization reasons. Why do you need white outline DTMs? We have SRL-6 include functions for detecting those already :)

You could create one. Make a DTM of the item when activated and when un-activated, and separate functions that search for each. Before you search for your DTM proper, search for your DTM when selected and if found, mouse to the slot and deselect it.

You could even use tabBackpack.getActivatedSlot() and .mouseSlot() to accomplish the same goal.
