Ross

2014-09-29 00:19:31

What it does

Catches butterflies and releases them! Supports nets and barehanded.

How to set it up

• Fill out the options at the top (debug, antiban, butterfly type).
• If using net have a butterfly net wielded and a butterfly jar in inventory.
• If using bare hands make sure USE_NET is false.
• Start at Butterfly Hunter Symbol at any of the butterfly hunting grounds.

Known bugs

• None

Planned updates

• Better XP calculations

How you can help

Test the script!

Version 3.0 Released!

v1.0 Base release (8 downloads)

v1.1 No functionality changes, but rewrote the script using a big ugly record (2 downloads)

v2.0 Barehanded support! Also added log dropping and other features. (34 downloads)

v3.0 Motion Detection: Now uses motion detection to catch butterflies. Uses color to filter out things
like chinchompas and kebbits.
Snowy Island: Snowy Island now catches both butterflies, to use this you must have Snowy knight
requirements.
Experience: Barehanded XP is now calculated based on averages. The longer it runs, the more accurate
it is. Double XP still screws up counter though.

Very nicely laid out script ;) You should def look into records to manage all the variables associated with the different butterfly types. Then you can avoid using all of those case statements :)

I was considering making one of these for the hand caught butterflies but now maybe I won't :D . The handcaught ones give agility exp and hunter exp with fast respawns, however it requires high levels. I'll probably use this later today

Sweet! Yeah barehanded will be coming soon. Let me know if you get some better colors when testing!

So the ruby harvest color didn't work for me at all. It didn't detect them period and so I tried to get the colors but it ended up detecting the rocks as white too. I'll keep trying for a few minutes and edit this if I get a better color match.

E: The colors are better but it detects the spikes on the kebits too. Perhaps get more colors and then add a filter to exclude the kebbit spikes. It also detects the bunny rabbits white tail :/ . Maybe just complain to jagex to fix the freaking color of the RUBY butterfly to red instead of white lol.
RH_COLOUR = 10405060;
RH_TOL = 10;
RH_HUE = 0.37;
RH_SAT = 1.46;

I'll give thanks in OP :p Thanks in advance!

I recommend adding a failsafe terminate script. I've had multiple instances where (while doing ruby harvest) I find my character stuck in a random corner of the fairy world thing. It still detects colors, causing the mouse to move, and I don't log out. This could be a ban hazard.
I'm guessing it sometimes clicks on the fairy ring and gets stuck.
I just added a counter to terminate if theres 20+ failed butterfly finds.

Otherwise, great script! nce I get a 6+ hour proggy I'll post it

Great idea! I'm actually moving away from color and into motion detection with the next update, as well as adding power-levelling on snowy island. I think people will be very pleased :)

Nice man! Also if you want some help on the butterfly's (especially the snowy ones - those are a pain), take a look through my old script https://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96725

It was pretty stable before the rs3 srl6 switch up.

Hi, I was actually going to look at it for plagiarism purposes but the paste was down. :p Looks like it's back up, so will do! Thanks :)
The one thing that's difficult for me right now is the wait function (using you getXPBar function for that), and tracking the xp split between agility and hunter.

e: I forgot you script in Japanese and I can't read it :p Although it looks like your wait function when catching a butterfly involves the pixel shift of the player.

That's awful man, I'm really really sorry to hear that. Where did it get stuck? I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

I have a suspicion that the ban wasn't from warlocks though, it was probably from the Snowy progress report you posted on the last page. I posted on the OP when I published it not to use the Snowy version because it was very bot-like.

Again though, I'm really sorry to hear that and want to make sure I fix the script!

ruby harvest don't seem to be working properly. Never seems to find any butterflies, even though they're all around. Not sure why

EDIT…. Figured out why, i just changed the colour… like u said in the main post lol. I use this colour one which is working really well '11061187'

By the way, few ideas….. firstly, perhaps if you could make the bot right click before catching a butterfly that way you can but in a secondary measure to see that your actually clicking a butterfly and not the fairy rings for example. Also, perhaps have the bot look for more than only 1 color, cause they seem to change colour a lot when flying around, when their wings are in differnt places etc. Another idea, is for the bot to right clock on another butterfly while it attempts to catch a butterfly so it can easily get to another one without it always having to run back to the starting position. Lastly, perhaps if when searching for butteflies it moves the camera around so it can look around for more butterflies before returning to the starting position. Cause i feel like returning to the same spot all the time is very bot like. But it does catch the butterflies well and it seems like this bot can go far and I will help out using it until I'm 99 agility and I'm only 82 at the moment. :P

edit. Another idea is when running back to starting position, if it see's a butterfly while running back it will go to catch it instead of continuing to run back until it gets back to starting position.

Hi,

First, thank you for the detailed post.

I will be updating the script this weekend (Saturday if I'm not too hungover) to use motion detection instead of colors, so most of those issues will be solved.
Second, I wouldn't use the script right this moment due to it not having a failsafe if it gets stuck!
Third, I've been discussing the finding butterfly while waiting and it's an excellent idea. I honestly like yours the best out of all ideas given right now.

The walking back thing won't be able to be implemented due to it using blindwalk, however the camera rotation definitely will be. Thanks again!

I think you might need to make the bot right click butterflies before catching them. It's just constantly missing all the butterflies when trying to click on them.

Also, stops catching them after like 1 or 2 catches for some reason. Not sure why.

Yeah it catches only 1 butterfly now and then just stays still. I tried restarting client.. still does it, and I re installed client and no change… Tried a different bot and other bots work.

That's odd, where are you catching them? I ran it for 15 minutes at all locations earlier. Are you sure you set it up right at the top? The names are different now.

nero_dante

2014-10-18 15:54:29

Doing at ruby harvests. Nah, i set up properly. Cause it catches the first butterfly properly. but messes up after that one.

Ross

2014-10-18 16:02:17

That makes me think that it tries to run back but it can't find its location on the map. All you put for butterfly_type was "ruby", right?

Enable debug and let me know what it says.

I tried both v2 and v3 and found that v2 was working pretty well at snowy knights/sapphire glacials when v3 was both slower than v2 and buggier since it got stuck at near the path to the upper island. V2 works excellently though, not too concerned with the "bot-likeness" atm since I haven't seen a single soul other than myself at the spot since I had 85 hunter lol.
