Do you do breaks?

this, Do you guys do breaks every 50-120 mins? do you believe they are indeed usefull? im getting the feeling that i could do less breaks, provided i have a real good antiban on the script.

I have botted all the skills in my signature, sometimes even 14 hours a day, 7 days a week and I have never taken a break.

Cool, this was the answer i was looking for :spot:

Ultimately, in my opinion, the quality of the script you are using depends a lot more than whether you take breaks. To a certain point, they can get you on plain inhuman playtimes so do not abuse this too much even if your scripts are flawless and super-humanlike.

i never take breaks, althrough iv implemented small wait times in my sripts at various locations up to like 41 second, i dont run more than 6 hours, never tried 6hourfix(), also i think i need to get breaks and maybe im overdoing for antiban toomuch since ban rate is pretty high. goldfarming bots survive around 4-5 weeks on average.

yeah, my script is far from 100% flawless and super human like, but i was taking breaks every 50-80 minutes, and i think its too much, i plan now on taking breaks from 120minutes+ (depending on runs, if 12 hour run or 18 hour run).

It can't hurt to add in more antiban. Extra anti ban affects one's XP rates negatively but that's how real humans play (except the guys on the first page of hiscores, efficiency experts clan, etc).

For instance, I have random AFK breaks to "check Facebook" or whatever during boring tasks. Less so during complex tasks like combat and mini games. If an activity is really boring why would a human be magically perfect at it for an hour and a half?

When you are fishing, you don't sit at the screen watching 24/7 and immediately switch spots when it runs out…maybe you're browsing something else and you are a little late to switch spots. Sometimes you spam click, sometimes you misclick, take a moment to realize you misclicked, and then correct the click. I add in all this behavior.

Even taking a twenty second break…honestly I suspect this is how they narrow things down when checking accounts manually…some perfect playing is totally appropriate, but too much and it becomes an obvious bot.

I also have recently added in farm run functionality to many of the scripts I use (will release later this week). After a long botting session I also sometimes do a quest.

This is how the average human plays. The average human is undetectable.

Some people here will call me paranoid, but my main account of 10 years was permanently banned when I was careless about adding antiban to a 5m/hr script. Up until then, I had been careful, but then I had maxed out my account and gotten cocky about never being caught. That was a bad 10 year mistake.

Even if Jagex detects none of what I am saying specifically, these behaviors all add up to a cumulative playstyle behavior that will never be detected, especially if this play style is unique between script users. Combine this with 100% color botting (no OGL/DX hooking/modified .DLLs) on the official client (no 3rd party) and I don't see what they can do besides scan my computer illegally for botting software. Even then, plausible deniability that I ever use Simba for RuneScape.

I've always been a fan of attempting to make a script play like the average human. My (old) scripts have what I called "breaks" every 60-120 minutes (user defined) which were short 10-15 minute breaks and a longer "sleep" which was every X hours (again user defined) and were for an hour at a time. These could be disabled by the user, but the option was there because that's how I play. I'll grind a bit, then need to take a piss, or go grab some food, or feed the cat. Whatever it is I go afk for 10-15 minutes every hour. It kills the xp rate, so I realize there's fine tuning to do but it makes me feel like the behaviour is less noticeable.

Most recently I'm working on a tree cutter and focusing on making the tree detection work like how I find and cut trees. I try to stay in the most dense region of trees, if I can't find one I'm not clicking all over the minimap but instead I'm rotating the camera or cutting trees in circles to give them time to respawn. I'm trying to integrate smart tree finding into my script which keeps it in a dense forest so that I don't have to wander the minimap hoping for the best or rotating all over the place.

These are things I like doing because if you get reported and Jagex sees that you're playing for a while but your patterns closely resemble a hopelessly addicted human, maybe that will sway manual checks or fool automatic checks. The whole point is that even when I'm grinding I have human patterns I follow, and a whole lot of scripts I've seen don't even attempt to make it look that way. I've been working with @Incurable a lot testing my script and getting good suggestions on how the script can act more human, which makes it more efficient in the end too.

Ninja Edit: I can't make tags work so I took it out

I basically do this things you say up to a point, but im trying to find the limit where its efficient/unbanned , in my antiban i even have a "checking social network" (as clarity said) that can appear at any procedure heh and a bunch of missclicks/bored human simulation as doing random stuff with the mouse or just releasing mouse and then picking it up, i even find fun implementing antiban and trying to think how a human would act. It would be cool to do sth like that when you are 5 hours into the script, the chances of doing long antibans are bigger (simulating Fb checking, taking a leak, stuff like that).

What you are doing garret is really awesome, thats total human behaviour, nobody runs away to a far away tree.. you just wait for respawn a bit heh. For the time being, im just doing 5-15 minutes breaks and low chance of 30-50 minute break.

Thank you both for the inputs!

The way I think about it:
It is better to get less XP/Hr (say 65-75% efficiency) and be unbanned with a maxed account than progress towards max more quickly at 100% efficiency and end up banned -> all that time wasted.

Ideally yes, we would find the ideal threshold, but then if all users did the ideal threshold, that would end up getting detected too.

Similarly, ban rates go up when a script becomes widely popular, especially since we release source code. If 1-2 people are using a script and always doing some action with a wait for random(200, 400), then that's fine. If 200 people are all doing wait random(200, 400) then that is obvious botting.

In some scripts with basic clicking, if you visually debug every click and run the script for an hour you can easily see a drawn box after while or a drawn circle or whatever due to all the clicks falling within that area. Obvious.

For this reason, even in public scripts I add a ton of personalized anti ban so that my character executes the script in a way that is different from everyone else. Sometimes I have the script generate totally new antiban constants (but still around the same range) every time it runs.

@3Garrett3, I very much like the way you think. Hopefully more people can go about scripting in this manner. Best of luck!

I know that in most scripts adding "human" functionality can decrease efficiency which is why working on this tree cutter I've found it impressive that being more like an addicted human can significantly increase the efficiency of the script. I haven't worked out all of the kinks yet, but each time I impliment another idea (again Incurable is helping me a lot with brainstorming) I find that the script gets a little more efficient.

I feel the same way that if I sacrifice efficiency and get to 99 on multiple stats without being banned, I'd prefer that over 24/7 botting and being banned. Obviously some people have made scripts that run 24/7 for weeks without bans (so I've heard around the forums) but I feel like those are the exception to the rule. Typically what causes bans is acting like a bot with how we interact with the game. Whether that be reports, no randomness, or doing the task like a bot rather than a human, I feel like there's a lot of factors that go into the ban. I just like to minimize as many of those factors with my scripts as possible.

It depends on the script. For a really repetitive task I use breaking now, but if the task itself has enough variation then I don't think it's needed.

I'm of the same mindset as Garrett and Clarity, if you don't want to be banned then the best way to do it is to look as much like an addicted human as possible with play patterns that match. Random mini-breaks (bathroom, food, etc), Internet browser checks, phone call breaks, etc are all things that happen to real humans when playing legit. If a script does this and its logic and mouse movement is just as human, then I think you're maximising the difficulty that Jagex will have in determining whether the account is a bot or a human.

To answer the OP question, I take breaks, but I don't think that every 90-120 minutes is realistic for a "long" break. Mini-breaks like the one's mentioned above, sure, but a long break should be done after several hours (4-5, at least), not within 2 hours of each other/starting. That's just my opinion though, and we all have differing standards of what we think is a realistic break time.

Not quite, no. I don't take breaks within a session, which typically lasts 3-6 hours. I have serious doubts that breaking every 30-120mins is any safer than every few hours. A LOT of legit players play uninterrupted for hours at a time; it's an unreliable indicator. As others have said, it's really all about how the script behaves while active. If your bot does something suspicious when it's online, then those little offline breaks won't mean a damned thing.

That being said, semi-frequent breaks don't hurt. It is possible to bot for too long. Most people have lives outside of RuneScape, so it would be wise to act like you do as well. I never exceed more than ~8 hours of botting in a day, as the risk does go up beyond that IMO.

I maxed out via bots, I never trained anything legit. 24/7 always no bans.

It can't hurt to add breaks.

Usually I never use breaks in my scripts and no bans yet. I never bot past the 6 hour limit though because if I can't get back to my computer for a day or two and it's set to keep going then it won't stop. There could be some huge system timer set up but I don't care enough to try and make one.
