Am I just stupid or is this really that hard to do.

Well I'm going to start off with saying that I'm probably seen as a leech by most people. I came here to download a bot and use it, I didn't really care about the community or anything like that. I still don't really see myself contributing to anything because so far I've been trying for like an hour a day for a week to get one script to work and still I can't do anything. Like everyone here either knows how to do everything or is totally clueless like me, and it seems there is little means of help because all the help threads like this one just get the OP hated on for not knowing how to do something. I mean how can you expect people to learn if nobody is willing to teach.

I've read the tutorials, done them multiple times on clean installs, and still I get nowhere because the script threads can offer no further insight on them or introduce new concepts that the tutorial didn't cover. I've tried multiple times to get a single script to do just one thing, but the farthest I've gotten is getting a game window to pop up. I could just be stupid and somehow not realizing something time after time but, I don't see how that makes me unworthy of getting help on this. I haven't posted on the forums much because I'm scared to be written off as ignorant or impatient, and that I don't deserve a chance to learn, that I'm not worth the time. If that's what this community is then I really don't want to contribute to it.

Could someone please just try and outline some things that the tutorials or the script threads don't tell you because I seriously cannot get a script to work.

Hi there Dexter1,

Simba is not a bot, as stated on the documentation :
"Simba is a program used to repeat certain (complicated) tasks. Typically these tasks involve using the mouse and keyboard. Simba is programmable, which means you can design your own logic and steps that Simba will follow, based upon certain input.

This “input” can vary greatly; from data in files to colors and text on the screen.

Simba is:

Open Source. (under the GPL license) (For more information see Source code.
Free.
Reliable but still maturing.
Cross platform.

Simba can:

Find and read colours on the screen.
Click or move the mouse to a specific position on the screen. Typically this is the position of a found color or bitmap.
Read text on the screen and turn it into actual text. (Optical Character Recognition)
Capture and analyse images on the screen.
Read and write files.
Connect to the internet to read websites and post data to them.
Run pascal programs for you. If you’re a bit creative you can have a lot of fun stuff with Simba, you could even make a game in it!"

Try getting familiar with the Pascal language, and read the guides Mayor and Cohen have posted, I'm sure they'll help you a lot. That's what I did when I first joined.

If you need help, just ask.. I'm sure most the of the SRL community would be more than happy to give you a hand. =).

Pretty much the definition of a bot. RSBot does the same thing. It is programmable and you design your own logic and steps and it follows it. It typically involves using the mouse and keyboard as well..

Whether it's a bot for RS or a generalised bot, it's still a bot/macro-ing program.

What concepts would that be? What threads are you referring to? Mind you, I don't play RS3 or OSRS at all so you'll have to point out exactly what you want.

Well like when a script says to start it while already logged in, I don't know how to do that, since every time I run a script a new window pops up. And when I was trying to setup a rs3 script, the tutorial had a different set of code for the username and password areas than the script did, so I couldn't get that script to work. The script in question was A poor mans humidifier, I posted in there already but no response.

Now I'm just trying to get osrs scripts to work but nothing working so far.

What do you mean by a "new window pops up". Are you talking about a new SMART window?

If so, either the include is badly written or the script is broken or for some reason, it cannot pair to already existing SMART windows.

To start it while logged in means to wait until the window pops up, log into RS in that window, set the compass to bird's eye view. THEN restart the script.

The script you are talking about: https://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=109830&highlight=poor+man%27s+humidifier

is for RS3 NOT OSRS..

I'd just like to quickly mention that this community is the complete opposite of what you have described. Everyone here is willing to help and give you a chance so long as you've made a proper attempt to do it yourself first. If all you're going to do is leech, then no, you're not going to be looked upon too nicely, but there are other ways to contribute to the community than just scripting. Getting involved in discussion, script testing, and helping others is just as good as writing and releasing a public script.

That being said, Simba/SRL isn't just a plug n' play "bot" like you'll find over at Powerban. There's quite a lot that you have to do yourself, and if you're not willing to put in the time, then you probably won't get very far.

Good luck.

Well as for the the script being RS3, I know, I was following a rs3 tutorial because i didnt have members on my osrs account yet. Thanks for the help on the new window pop up, i figured out how to get a script to run and actually do stuff in game but now it won't click the things it identifies. Like I'm trying to use ineedbots AIO fisher to fly fish at shilo village. I start it in bank, it runs down to the river and sees a fishing spot, but it wont click it. A few other comments in other threads mention the same thing but nobody got answered, so I'm asking again here. The black text window keeps saying "field not found: t" and other letters and under the main simba window when i quit the script it says "The following bitmaps were not freed: [3]". I'm probably not seeing some "anti-leech" or something in the script because i havent done anything like that yet, but I've looked through the script and can't find anything that im sure wont mess it up and is what im actualyl looking for.

And I'm sure that you guys aren't all like that but literally like 10 threads down someone posted the a very similar thread and the only thing that happened was people called him a leech and didn't help him. I'm sure since he posted a thread asking for help that he was willing to put in the time to get SRL to work but he never got that chance because nobody offered to help him.

If you have a genuine problem and you ask for help, you will get it. It's as simple as that. I don't know why you keep going on about leechers :p The worst thing you can do is "h3lp dis bot dun w0rk pls fix i peh". The more details you can provide about your problem the better. Simba/SRL6 is going through a rough patch at the moment with the transition from Simba 1.0 to 1.1. Quite a few internal SRL functions are not working, which will cause some scripts to become unstable, or not work at all.

As far as I'm aware, anti-leech has been frowned upon/banned at Villavu for a few years now, so you don't need to worry about that. I'm not familiar with indeedbot's script, but if you have a specific problem then you need to post on the script thread with a screenshot of the SMART client when the bug occurs (make sure to black out your display name), as well as copy/paste the text from the debug box at the bottom of Simba in
tags. The more detail you give to the script creator, the more likely they are to be able to help you.

I was only able to find one thread that even slightly matched your description. One person posted a disrespectful comment towards the OP, another agreed with him, and then both were reminded by a moderator to be respectful towards other users. I'd hardly say that qualifies as new people being hated on with nobody willing to help them.

I only asked about the script in here after reading the comment with the same problem it referenced it preventing all scripts that he tried from clicking ingame interactables like fishing spots or market stalls. I figured it wasn't a script specific issue but I'll post over in the script thread.

Make sure your have mouse over text enabled in the game. If you're not getting mouseover text nothing's going to work.

dexter1

I thought it might be that so I hopped back in game real quick and tried it again, but mouseover text was enabled. The script seems to work correctly but it won't click the fishing spots. The gui will update to fishing if i manually click it and enable smart again but when that spot vanishes it runs back to its reset area, finds a new spot, and just hovers the mouse over it.

Just realised that fishing script is for OSR and uses reflection :p From what you have explained, either I'd say either R_OptionExists or R_IsUpTextMulti is broken, or some reflection IDs are broken in his script. This is something you want to post on his thread. Make sure you say what fishing method you are using, what you are catching etc.
