So I login to one of my botted accounts for the first time in nearly a year today, and it offers a legacy mode.. What's this?
Could i get a quick rundown of the current circumstances of simba RS3/OSRS?

Legacy mode is a (fail) mode to try and being pre-eoc/pking back to the main game. It brings back the old combat system and older looking graphics.
I'm not sure of that state of srl for rs3 but for 07 the Official include is not been updated often but there is also a unofficial reflection addon to it.
Then there is a stand alone reflection include currently been developed by tls (It's yet to be finished) and a full colour include developed by flight

Hmm sad to see this community so inactive. The release of 07scape doesn't seemed to have helped either..

An unofficial version of SRL6 is being made for legacy, and it will use safemode.

RS3 include is SRL6 and runs in OpenGL mode or DirectX (They have mostly the same colours)

Legacy mode is an retro re-skinning that "reverts" the interface and combat to how it was pre-EOC (no abilities, special attacks are back, etc). Basically, it's an illusion to give RS3 a 2012 feel. EOC is still optimal when it comes to DPS, but Legacy is a viable alternative. The only exception to this is high level bosses like Araxxor/KK/Vorago, where EOC abilities are an absolute necessity to survive.

I wouldn't call Legacy mode a fail, tbh. It's actually pretty well done. PKing has even been successfully revived on Legacy-only worlds.

I think it's a great idea, but it was rushed and very few people use it (And I think the graphics suck)

How was it rushed, and what has the number of people using it got to do with anything? Also, how do the graphics suck? They're the same as pre-EoC, that's kind of the point… o.O

It's extremely buggy and the amount of graphical glitches about atm is huge, and these are the graphics I remember from pre-eoc Legacy mode looks completly different
And the amount of people using it means that's it attracted very few people back.

What graphical glitches are there? I've been using it recently and I haven't noticed any.

As for the amount of people using it, there was an official poll about how many people use it but seems to have been removed.

This was even after Jagex nerfed legacy because EOC players complained that the dps in legacy was equal to EOC.

Legacy mode sounds pretty great tbh. EoC is something no one can be bothered to understand (at least me and my friends can't) so it might bring us back into the game! Good ol' school pk'ing.

Those graphics aren't what "Legacy" mode is supposed to be, it's supposed to be the graphics pre-EoC, pre-UI overhaul, etc. You know, the graphics that it actually has? I haven't used it enough to see any graphical glitches, so I'll take your word for it, but the UI is exactly how it's supposed to be. Complaining that they don't look like the previous iteration of EoC UI is just ridiculous.

What he posted is actually a pre-eoc picture (in resizeable mode; not fixed mode).. Notice that there is no ability bar.. There's a quest icon, etc..

Really only a few people use it? I would think that quite a few go on it and use it… Isn't that the reason why Jagex brought it back. I think Jagex did their homework on this one… no point of having legacy if no one wants it. if a few people only play on it then Jagex would've removed it. I'm not sure.

I understand what you mean and if you really think Legacy is lacking, then I think you should try OSRS.

But from what I see, a lot of people are using it and that pvp in the wilderness has been revived once again.
