Air Orb Bot / Gate detection

Well today I was working on my Air orb bot, specifically the gate opening/detection procedures. While I was doing this there was another player going through, so I decided to be an asshole and close the gate after he opened it. He basically sat there for about 30 seconds then home teleported, so I figured it was more then likely a bot, and I did it twice more and sure enough it teleported twice more. So I was wondering, from someone who is better then me(srl member), if there is an air orb bot in the higher forums?

Anyways, gate detection seems like the hardest part of this script. My system right now is walking right up to the gate, then checking to see if the player is in a certain box of coordinates I made with the path generator, once this is verified, it creates a hard coded TBox to search in. Then I click the center of the TPA which gets the gate. There is still some kinks but I think it is a workable system. Does anyone have any other methods of opening/detecting gates that have similar colors with the surrounding area?

have you taken a look at the honeycomb script in the moneymaking scripts section? im sure it has a gate detection since there is one in the entrance to the honeycomb, not sure though, just saying

I started to chuckle, sorry :p

But, on topic I remember reading a tutorial once for doing doors with DTMs using the minimap(I think the doors show open or closed on the minimap). This tutorial is probably someplace in the OSRS tutorial section now, I wish I could link it to you.

Other than that you can have a search function for the gate that checks the TPA size. One of the two states should have a larger TPA size from the north camera angle. Say the closed gate TPA size is 100 and the open gate is 50, you can check the TPA size and if it's greater than 60(some tolerance) you would know it's closed and would call another procedure to open the gate in that case. That's just a thought, there's probably better ways to do it.

Flight also has a good method posted somewhere about a door for the range in al kharid. basically… he searches for the top of the door color and gets that as a tpa. then compares the width and height. so if its tall, ie height greater than width (this is with camera facing west i believe), its open, and if the width is greater than the height, then its closed.

using dtms on the minimap can give a good indication of the state of the door when the map was loaded, but it could have changed since. it also allows for a easily finding where the gate /should/ be on screen.

Both are good ideas. However both of these gates stay static on the minimap so I couldn't use a dtm in that way. The color of the top of the gate is very similar to the surrounding area so I don't think looking at the size of the TPA would work too well. Regardless I've gotten my current system refined pretty well, it almost never screws up unless someone else is standing there spam clicking the gate.. IT should be done once I figure out how to make SPS work in the dungeon..
