Hey there everyone.

I am a programmer living in Australia, mainly C++ and C#.

I used to use SCAR when I was younger, I liked the open community then and I like what has become of it today with Simba etc.
I have no experience working with Lape but it seems pretty straight forward.

Anyway I am happy to be here and look forward to contributing to the community. :D

Welcome,

Just clearing things up. But SCAR did not become Simba. SCAR exists on another forum (just google SCAR-Divi). Simba is different to SCAR.

Enjoy your stay though!

Ah right, my apologies. Regardless I'm happy to be apart of this community and look forward to contributing what I can.

not to be nit-picky but since you were being nit-picky towards someone whose intentions were to introduce themselves and mention how they regard the forum, I don't feel bad :p

"I used to use SCAR when I was younger, I liked the open community then and I like what has become of it today with Simba etc."

He never said SCAR turned into SIMBA. The only thing he mentioned transitioning is the community.

Uh, i was not being 'nit-picky'. I was clearing things up and I was welcoming him (nice to see you did the same). He suggested that he liked what the old forum has become with simba. I was simply stating that SCAR still exists and that the open community did not become Villavu.com.

No need to apologize, i was just telling you a little about the history between when you left SRL-Forums and now.

Wait, wait. The way I remember it, Simba was built off of SCAR (not SCAR Divi, but Kaitnieks's original SCAR CDE). If not the source code, then the concept. Why else would Simba be named as it is? (SCAR, Simba, The Lion King, anyone?)

In the movie did Scar become Simba? The word "Become" suggests transformation also suggests that SCAR died off (which is why i was being 'nit-picky' (in footballjds's words)), which isn't the case. Kaitnieks did not release the SCAR source to anyone apart from Freddy1990 afaik. The ideology may be there but nope; Simba is the creation of Wizzup? and others. It was named Simba because it was a community decision (this last sentence i'm unsure of, maybe someone who was more active back then could clear this up?).

In the movie scar is the vilian. Simba defeats scar, indirectly resulting in scars dead. Wizzup mentioned this was not why it was called simba though.

SCAR is an acronym for Shit Compared to AutoRune. It was written by Kaitnieks back in the day. Autorune was another bot from him that used package send methods, which was even easier scripting than with reflection. When kaitnieks quit he gave the source code to freddy. Note that currently the source can't become opensource because it relies on some pay to use libraries iirc. Freddy called it Scar divi, basically meaning scar 2.

Simba is creation by mostly written Master raymond and wizzup. Though more people contributed, those two made most of the base. Some other names include, but not limited to, Nielsie and Dgby. You can view a more complete list of contributers on the github. Simba was meant as an opensource alternative to scar divi, since scar divi was becoming too slow on updates because of only having one maintainer. Simba is not scar 3!

Looking back at what happened Simba is most definitely not a failure. I think the current system works, but one can question if the original goal of faster updates has succeeded. Big updates are, even though by a greater variety of programmers, still slow.
