Banned From Powerbot Today. LOL - Another one of Gunner's epicly long-winded posts.

tl;dr - got banned, lol'ed, can't feedback
I hang around the powerbot forums often. Checking out the ban threads, laughing to myself at all the mains lost, sometimes even posting the usual "how dumb can you be" posts. It's something to do while watching my farm. If I'm not here asking ridiculously elementary scripting questions, I'm either there or epicbot.

So today, I'm browsing the powerban forums like I always do, and at one point, I came across a thread titled, "does powerbot get passed rs bot finder? ". The question posed in the thread was "what are the chances of getting banned using free scripts?" So, being the honest, blunt guy that I am, I replied to it. "What's the closest to 100% that you can get? Those are your chances." Not really that funny, but true nonetheless.

I reckon about 15mins later, as I clicked another thread, I got this…

Notice the reason given was…wait for it…Libel!

Libel? You keep using that word…I don't think it means what you think it means…Apparently Chris, who is one of the MFIC's at powerbot, thinks that libel means "writing mean things about powerbot". As we all know, if it's true…it's not libel. At least that's the way it is here in 'murica, I'm not up to date on the U.K.'s publishing laws, but I would bet that it's the same definition over there. I didn't get banned by some wannabe 15yr old S-Mod with too much forum power, I got banned by an admin. I reckon getting banned by an MFIC is all the more sweet, if I gotta go, lets go out with a bang, right?

I haven't appealed it, and don't plan on it. If I do, it'll be more of a "stick this busted-ass bot and 12yr old community up your arse - you limey @$%^'s" kind of appeal. But I don't reckon that's really necessary.

The only bad part about this is, I can no longer give feedback and vouches to my gold buyers. My biggest one is on Sythe as well, so I just post over there now.

So all in all, it was a productive day I think. I got hammered by an MFIC, had a laugh, and finally found a reason to GTFO that community. Yay me! :D
Thanks for reading! …You did read it, didn't you? :P

Don't badmouth powerbot. OP is obviously butthurt about something.

1) He wasn't using the word incorrectly.

2) Using RSBot is not a 100% ban. Admittedly it's much higher than Simba, but nowhere near 100%.

3) There's only been two 15-year old super moderators in the history of powerbot.

4) You didn't go out with a bang. you went out flaming, being butthurt, acting like an idiot and badmouthing a free piece of software. The administration deal with multiple people like you, every day, without batting an eye.

5) RSBot isn't busted. Higher ban rates do not equate to a bad bot.

6) In what universe is getting banned for being ignorant, and losing yourself the ability to interact with the RS blackmarket considered productive?

Before you even attempt to justify yourself or your actions, I'd like to reference that I've been banned here, at SRL, for the EXACT SAME THING before. Your actions are nothing new; they've been perpetrated by thousands of ignoramuses before you.

Go outside.

When people's signatures are half naked women, you know the forum is filled with idiots. The admins are not exempt from this rule.

As for this thread, I have no idea why KeepBotting is attacking Gunner over something this stupid. It just goes to show the type of people over there. Stay away, it's a cesspool.

I think the one who's butthurt here is you. Apparently PB is your favorite bot, and I just pissed in your Cheerios.

As for the definition of libel you posted, you proved my point for me. A published false…highlight that one…false statement. RSbots ban rates aren't high, they're nearly guaranteed.

I would also like to point out, that you've referenced yourself as an ignoramus. I'm not sure if I should laugh, or facepalm.

So thank you for proving my point about that community. It's filled with raging teenagers like yourself. This was a lighthearted thread, about me getting the hammer from a community as pathetic as powerbot, and you came absolutely unglued. You act like PB is the end-all of RS black markets. It isn't. It's full of scammers, more than I've seen everywhere else combined.

Take your raging, flaming, PB fanboy ass somewhere else kid, and stay the hell off my thread if you can't conduct yourself any better than that.

The other downside to this, is I no longer get to laugh at said idiots. It did give quite a bit of enjoyment watching them fumble over each other, arguing about how exactly it is that they keep getting banned.

Botting has gotten silly stupid with all the stuff jagex has been doing of late. True goldfarming is to blame but scripting for the sake and challenge of it is still fun. It would be great to get an SRL sponsored private server just to script on and mess around.

Part of the draw for me to botting is knowing I'm getting away with it. That rush I have every morning logging in my first farmer, while very stressful, is also exhilarating when that 10-12 second mark passes and I don't get the "connection lost…". I think for me, botting an RSPS would be kind of anticlimactic. I realize what you mean, you would do it for the sake of scripting, and I respect that totally. I'm just not that into scripting, I wish I was better at it, but I do enjoy botting. It's almost a game in and of itself.

I tried to make a server to bot on once. I never got very far. If someone made private server I would play on it.

What kind of server would you most like to see? 2k7, 2k11, EOC, NIS? Just curious, not like I could build one.

Now that I'm thinking about it, looking back to Demise's point, an SRL RSPS would actually be really helpful for scripting. Assuming we could keep it updated to the current game we could run and test scripts indefinitely without the chance of being banned before launching them into the real game. Maybe even write our own anti-bot system to see if the scripts could beat it. I know we'll never know for sure what Jagex's processes are, but the computer whizzes around here have a pretty good idea.

…Damn I ramble when it gets this late…

Lol funny, a more mature reaction by the mods would be to send you a message asking you to be less negative. Stuff like this makes it more clear how desperate the situation is for them.

Sure it isn't 100%, but it's damn close.

This is why I like SRL, we make scripts for fun, education, and our own satisfaction. This has the nice side-effect of producing quality scripts, with honesty and transparency regarding their usage.

Gunner

2014-06-15 03:09:44

^^This…all of it. Even if this community had no public scripts and everyone just made their own, I would still be here. I like the topics here, as well as the people. Just wish it was a bit more active, but it could be worse…EB and PB could get clusterflutterered again and we get flooded by their 12 yr old leftovers. Can't have it all I guess. :D

RS3 RSPS. I don't know much about setting it up but it would be great to play/script without risks of getting banned and be able to bot 24/7. Experience rates should stay normal not to spoil the fun but there should be some perks to using it as access to those buyable perks from the store or the ability to keep all on death. I would love to make risky scripts such as GW or TDS with such a mode enabled. It would be a rewarding challenge and would be good for srl competitions. It is fun botting the actual game but if all people like is botting, this would work just fine. It could help revive SRL and help teach people programing.

If it was one managed by us I say we should also implement bot detection to the best of our abilities and then the user would receive a notification that they had been detected.

Did RS2 run ogl at one time as well? Anything 2010+ should have both ogl n dx mode. It would also be alright to get RS2 RSPS right before they launched RS3. That way the most skills and quests should be available.

Anyone got any idea on server reqs?

Yes. All of it. If we could beat our own anti-bot measures I think we would be in the clear because we know EXACTLY what to look for. It would challenge us to use logic we've never thought of before, because our own anti-bot would already be looking for the standard logic.

Yes Demise, I think we should always try to stay on top of the newest version. Even if we dedicate an OSRS "club", we still need to be able to beat RS3.

Keeping it updated with rs3 would be really difficult, just because they literally make updates once a week and justification for putting them into a private server really isnt there (because no one would use the new material).

Also gunner no point in feeling anything in regards to that community, actually maybe 6 years ago my account on the website was banned for scamming. Mind you this was when they first bought a .com website and I was an official middleman (With the rank and all) making bills doing my thing, but someone impersonated me on skype and I was banned for scamming -.-… Mind you once I proved this wasn't me etc, I was unbanned but I wasn't allowed to get the rank back because I let that happen (Because of course I can control all the skype names that are created, and the idiots who don't check with a private message…) Anyhow, I called it a day and here I am with a much better community.

Moral, don't let it get to you. In the end of the day there is always something better.

It wouldn't necessarily have to have every single update, but any bot-able content, as well as graphical changes would need to be updated. Honestly I don't think it would matter if they added a fishing spot over here, or an extra yew tree over there, as long as catherby, etc was kept updated.

As for the PB community, I'm really not sweating it. I couldn't care less about that worthless community. I only used them for a laugh and to sell my gold, but there are plenty of places to sell gold. Here being one of them, if I could just get off my lazy ass and get my script up to standards for membership.

Aaaaaannnnnndddddd…now my own thread is officially over my head. Lol.

While I don't exactly know what Flight is saying, I would think that an RS3 server should use whatever format Jagex uses? If the point is to have a safe place to test scripts and such, wouldn't we want the scripts to be easily transferable to the main game?

Also, the last time I owned a website, the monthly server cost was around $15/mo. That's half a day's botting for me, and if it is to stay private to SRL only, I wouldn't assume we would run into bandwidth issues? So I would be happy to fund this project.

But as far as I know OGL is a method to display graphics, one that Jagex currently uses. Not only that but it's the one we use for colors for RS3 currently so why not use it for an RS3 server?

That's kinda what I'm thinking, I was really confused by Flight's post. Isn't the whole game java-based? And OGL, DX are just the display capabilities, right? There's probably something I'm missing, which would explain why I'm so bloody confused right now.

The last time I checked, a long time ago, the 500's & 600's version clients had only the standard display graphics option. I have no idea where they are since then, I'm quite outdated since leaving the RSPS scene.

Obviously the admins know more about this than I do, but I don't really see how our private server would be any different than the dozens of other ones out there. It wouldn't even be a "public" private server, as in not every geek on the internet could just come and join, it would be for SRL members only.

I'm not trying to argue my case, I'm just genuinely curious as to why we would get shutdown, vs. a server like SoulSplit.

Because they have a lot more reason to take the trouble to shut us down since it would by extension shut down SRL/Villavu. Obviously we would relocate but it would be an easy victory for them.

Something like SoulSplit is technically illegal but not associated with communities that Jagex would like to see shut down as much.

Makes sense. I thought that servers like SoulSplit were only illegal if they profited from it. (not sure if there are paid RSPS's, never got into the scene) It's too bad really, because it would be absolutely awesome to have a place to run and test scripts against our own botwatch systems.
