I think the chain doesn't allow for backpedaling, so the pedal and the wheel are fixed. And maybe the leg goes down and prevents the pedal from moving, and thus the wheel from moving acting as a break(think of a bike without cable breaks that you might of had when you were younger). I would say it's the robot's left leg that the pedal hits since the bike turns that direction abruptly.

You can tell by the wobble at the end that only 1 is touching and the other one not by very much so it couldn't drag them until the bike had stopped.
