So in a recent news post, Jagex has released a graph of account creation date and total experience.

This is the graph (click to enlarge):



You can see there are an abnormally high number of accounts that have been essentially unplayed on that were created in 2012.

Anyone remember anything in 2012 that could have anything to do with this surge in unused new accounts?

Could it be this?

While researching I came across another damning report:

During the server blackouts of 19 June 2012, 20 June 2012 and 1 July 2012, the 'Players since launch' counter displayed prominently on the www.runescape.com website continued to increment unaffected.

I don't think color macroing has ever been detectable.

Another funny thing i see here is that the golden age for runescape and skillers were 2004-2007. And that spike is probably nearly certainly unreasonable and fake in my eyes.

Man, i remember way back in 2009 or something. Maybe earlier.. They had a side bar on the homepage that said over 300m accounts.

Then they make this 200m account stuff in 2012. Did they lie about the 300m accounts in 2009? I tried finding cached pages for earlier years but most are deleted.

Better sell wand.
