Why can't I run openGL?

Hey, I cannot run RS in OpenGL mode.. when I try to apply the mode in SMART, it terminates immediately. When I try the same in browser, the screen goes white and nothing happens. I've tried to reinstall Java (tried several versions). I am on Integrated graphics could be that the case? Anybody have experienced similar issue?

Thanks :)

I've the same issue http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108188
couldn't find a fix till now.
Just hoping @Brandon would release DX interception then we won't need ogl ever again…

Does the Direct-X plugin not work for you guys? I released a patch yesterday that should be universal. I cannot announce it as a "release" until there is feedback from everyone. It would be a bad idea to release a beta plugin that not much have been using afaik. The opengl plugin was more popular at the time and I was able to release it as everyone started using and testing it fairly quickly. Direct-X one doesn't seem to have that sort of faith yet.

Anyway, I'm able to get into both OpenGL and DirectX.. I cleared my cache and everything as suggested by Jagex when the issue first appeared. Both plugins should work fine.

Mine had something to do with my setting of my Java path not being correct and there being several errors. If you look on like page 6=7 of Brandons thread there is a post about how to get into Direct-x/OpenGL.

I will find it later tonight if you guys haven't yet.

PS whatever plugin you made for DX awhile ago that had drawing in it still works fine for me :)

The DX plugin works fine but it's color only. As for the ogl interception plugin, perhaps the ogl memory leak + low fps of ogl limit its usage? A DX interception plugin would definitely be much more popular.

What else did you do besides clearing the cache? I even had a reformat a few weeks ago so cache is definitely not the cause of my crashes.

I can get into DX mode fine, just that switching to ogl causes instant crash

The OGL plugin itself doesn't have a leak afaict. It's written in the same style as the current DirectX plugin so if anything leaked, both would leak. In fact, the code for the DXPlugin is a direct copy paste of that of the OGL colour plugin with very minor changes. Which is what I find weird.. The Direct-X plugin performance far surpasses that of OpenGL.. I actually recently ported all the Direct-X code to Pascal out of curiousity.. I can port the OpenGL plugin as well.. I doubt it'll make a difference. I will try to find "leaks" when I get home.. Even though I never allocated any memory on the heap :l

It is just weird that you guys cannot get into OpenGL mode in the browser either..

Only thing I did was clear the cache. Send me your stacktrace of the crash. See here: http://services.runescape.com/m=forum/sl=0/forums.ws?15,16,683,65302710

Yeah i know the leak is to do with jagex, i've submitted reports several times but they are not fixing it :x
The leak on DX is significantly less severe. Could you please release a DX plugin with interception if it's just be copy paste from the ogl with minor changes?

The leak on DX is significantly less severe. Could you please release a DX plugin with interception if it's just be copy paste from the ogl with minor changes?

This is the content of hs_err_pid4812.log (generated when i switch from DX to ogl in SMART)

j jaggl.OpenGL.glCopyTexSubImage3D(IIIIIIIII)V+0

What?! DX has a leak? Where? When? This cannot be possible.. There is only ONE function that is hooked. That function is EndScene..

As of reading your post, my paranoia kicked in.. I have decided to posted a review of ALL the code in the D3D9 plugin as I did with the OpenGL plugins (both versions).. The review is pending and can be found here: http://codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/45058/d3d9-leaks-if-any

This review will determine if there are any leaks on my side. The review contains code that does NOT allocate memory as well. This will show that not a single line of the code has a leak. Hopefully.. Also added comments/documentation in case anyone was interested and to help speed up the review.. I'm fairly confident there aren't any leaks but it's always good to have others see as well..

Now for the OpenGL problem.. Big wtf.. It was never exported by jaggl or used before at all!

In fact, on my system, it still isn't exported. It isn't used :l It isn't even exported by Microsoft's OpenGL.. Must use extensions like wglGetProcAddress

I'll add it to the plugin in the morning.. Not sure what, if any, it has to do with the colour plugin.. Fairly useless. Nevertheless.. couple seconds work.

I wasn't saying that there's a leak in ur plugin…it has to do with jagex's code as it leaks when using the official client as well
a fresh new client would only use ~300-400+ mb

the log was generated in the simba folder when i switched from dx to ogl (which instantly caused SMART to close)

I made the changes to the plugin but before I update and upload it I need you or anyone to..

Run: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/dllexp.zip
Choose C:/Windows/System32/OpenGL32.dll
Press Ctrl+A to highlight all functions
Use the menu to save them all to a file
pastebin.com or paste.villavu.com me a link

What it does is gives me a list of all functions your system's opengl.dll has.. It should be the exact same as everyone else's..

It crashes even w/o loading the ogl plugin for SMART btw.

Which is weird.. Only thing I can do to actually fix that is lie to jagex.. basically telling them your graphics card has glCopyTexSubImage3D when it actually might not..

Anyway, load the plugin:
If you get any errors (in smart's console in red), you need to let me know. If not, then you will have to wait on Jagex to fix whatever is wrong on their side. Why? Because this plugin is an EXACT replica of the official OpenGL module with exactly one minor addition. That addition is to allow Smart to load it.

Even the ordinals are the exact same:

Every export down to the last detail is there. That's exactly 368 exports + 1 for smart. I tested it and it works on my system. Hopefully this works because it's most likely the absolute best I can do. If anything, I can probably teamviewer you later and see exactly what is wrong.

Loaded the plugin and smart still crashes upon switching to ogl. It's not to do with your plugin since i can't switch to ogl in browser/official client either.
