Of course, this is nothing new.
This…not sure why this is a revelation for you Spectral :p
While I have no idea what Jagex's processes are, I do think we are far from their priority in the fight against bots. While many people come to SRL to find goldfarming scripts and leech for money/profit, the main drive of the community is very different from the business/greed of the other bot types.
For me personally, I very much love RS as a game, and I respect Jagex a lot. I've played it growing up and would be very disappointed if I was banned because I've truly enjoyed the experience. I am attending the next Runefest even (but obviously I'd never discuss SRL there). I bot because I want to enjoy the game as well as enjoy my social life/succeed in academics. If I had been playing legit all these years my life would be so antisocial and sad…many years ago I declined girls asking me out so I could stay home and play Runescape…what sort of priority was that? I had a passionate hate for botters, because they devalued my achievements, but as soon as I stumbled across them first-hand, my life changed. Sounds cheesy and cliche I know, but botting is just a superior lifestyle choice. Or quitting and spending time playing something else, but I like the game too much for that.
This sort of perspective, while maybe on the extreme side, differs from the other opponents of Jagex who abuse their game in order to make a profit, with little interest in the well-being of the game itself. SRL does this for fun and challenge. Others do it for money.
I suspect Jagex respects this general distinction between SRL and the massive goldfarmers, and as such we have not been much of a priority. I could be wrong, however.
